Being evil eh?
So, what I wanted to say:
More devilish plans? YOU GO GAL!!!
From my understanding then, the moral of the story is, get to know more people and make sure we have their contacts especially email addresses. Because we never know when this will come in handy right? Then again, this person in question will have to be a significant one ya? It's a wonder how we can feel so very good and delighted when we are being such a devil.
Breezed Through
Was mesmerized by the intermediate step movements while waiting outside studio for BP class to start. So feeling very tempted to join the step class at Axis tonight. Bumped into Nic last week and I was already very tempted then, when he coaxed me to try join his class again.
Teacher was nearly late too. While we were getting ready, I saw a guy pocketed (literally!) the air-cond remote control. It's true! They do that in Uptown ya, haha... But thanks to the remote-control-controller, the temperature in the studio was "customized" and adjusted accordingly throughout the class, luckily that guy responded to the workout and temperature the same as us. So, by end of squat track, I was comfortably warmed; by the time we reached the kickback in triceps, my sweat was dripping already. You can only really call it a satisfying workout if you are somehow sweating right? No?
It's good to have rested on Tuesday, so I had enough sleep and muscle recovered from Monday's back-to-back classes. The tracks were not so tough last night, so I was ok for not really shouting/ moaning crazily in class. OK, with regards to class being quiet, yeah, it was a rather "serene" class with members staying calm and focus on the workout, and true that I can almost count the number of response (shout, scream, groan) from the floor with my fingers.
Then again, yesterday's tracks were really not tough. I could almost make it for the biceps track - only skipped perhaps 2 curls? Could manage all other tracks full range and reps. So, considered quite a breeze. My second week in this class and I think I could keep this fixed for my new gym schedule. Perfect time slot, near to office, not too crowded, motivating instructor who knows me by my nick - what else can I ask for?
Can you imagine if I tell Carebear her Monday class was a breeze? Mwah hahaha...
Disclaimer: Just in case the above sentence causes confusion - NO! Carebear, your class was NOT a breeze.

TTB says:

Sorry, I wasn't at the surprise birthday celebration at Axis last night. Hope it was a blast! Above all, I'm really not a BJ person and my knee pain didn't help me with the status either :p.
Happy birthday darling! May you stay Diva forever.
ps. BTW I am NOT sending you CNY card lah. Will send you an electronic greeting. Hehe...
As a side note, this on line Florist that I've ordered from is very good. The items look innovative and pleasing enough, price reasonable (sort of within my budget) and most importantly, very good service. I'd simply send them an e-mail enquiring whether they received my order, even though I've received an auto-confirmation, and they replied me within the next 10 minutes. They even replied to say "welcome" when I thank them for the confirmation. The item was delivered this morning before noon. As I said good service, highly recommended. :)
Carebear said perhaps I should introduce this to Choobacca eh? Haha...

Carebear in Action
Was kind of busy the whole day yesterday, plus was having Monday blues, MC called this my "Garfield syndrome". So didn't get to check if combat buddies were still going to be at TC.
Very happy to see BJC parked just beside where I did when I arrived at parking. Later, while waiting for class to start, I saw a sad looking Wookie (I thought) . Don't be upset lah, the flowers look OK what hehe... and much later half way through the class, my new found Scrabulous buddy turned up as well! Haven't seen her for so long...
Yesterday's BC was really packed, remained as the very popular class. However, teacher was not seen even after the class was filled up. By the time teacher rushed passed the glass panel outside the studio, all I saw was a red water bottle flashing, like warning sign. Haha... and sorry, I didn't put the filled bottle where it was "supposed" to be. Too shy to walk across such big crowd and certainly cannot manage to climb up the stage. And of course we all know you are not Master C, the GXC already change lah at the timetable board to show Carebear (not literally lah, imagine that hahaha).
All the rushing must have caused teacher some mental fog. I wouldn't notice the mistakes actually, but of course those hardcore combaters and experts could instantly pick up the slightest flaw. You could have said you were just "testing" us, no? hee... Who invented the push-up "punishment" by the way?
Most of the tracks were all time favorite, for me at least, except for the "box" upper cut track, very dizzy! I've been having this knee "pain" since morning (not stabbing pain, but like "geli", weakening type of discomfort and sensation on the knee), so I'd got my knee guard tightly strapped. So no matter how inspired I was by Steve during Muay Thai, I just can't seem to be able to lift my left leg, leave alone jumping ceiling-high. (I looked as though I was doing BS you said??!! Humphhh...) It was such a waste that I can't jump during the Girl Friend track. Haizzz...
I was blessed with clear instructions and movements demo and the class was full of energy. Different type of energy from Carebear, one with a tinge of "cheekiness".
BP class was also like a can of sardine. By the time I'd changed into my shorts and went back to my set-up board, there was only like less then a feet of space between my board and a newly placed board. After adjusting, I could just manage comfortable space for warm up and squat, till we reached chest. My bar was "fighting" with the gal beside me, humphhh... Just when I thought I'd adjusted my space perfectly for tricep to avoid clashing, others also adjusted "accordingly", therefore, more "fighting". So effectively, I'd missed about 5% of my chest and tricep workout (haha) since I had to get up to shift my board.
And no teacher, I do not wish to do Eye of The Tiger again on Wednesday (touch wood!!!), California OK, but I do love the conditioning track. I love Shake Your Tail Feather to start with, always wish FI can do that in his BJ. The thing about doing Carebear's BP is that it always makes me wonder how that woman can be so strong!? I was about to wonder if the team-teaching instructor was struggling with matching the weights Carebear carried.
Side track, talking about the TT instructor, I thought he was quite good. He spoke very clearly and no funny accent. Very organized with what he wanted to say and sounded very confident and motivating. Although, I thought some instructions were a bit "sudden". Must be the track.
Anyways, my story is getting too long already and yes I can see yawning (but I need to some how make sure this post can be categorized under AK). So in short, BC and BP was great, sweat a lot, great torturing and loads of pain. But I might need to choose a better spot to stand during the next class to avoid working out less :p.
After class, I was really hungry and thank god for Carebear's life-saving scones, gobbled down two even before I left the gym. They were nice, getting better but yeah, we generally don't like mix peel lah, that's why I chose a non-mix-peel Christmas fruit cake. I'm ok with oats and a bit of spices, but perhaps not everyone does. It was also fun to be "commenting" with some fun and cool people to end my crazy night.

Almond and Raisin Biscotti
In Italian, the word "biscotto" means "biscuit" or "cookie." More specifically, biscotti are named according to their original method of baking. The root words "bis" and "cotto" literally mean "twice" and "baked." When Italians first created biscotti in the region of Tuscany many centuries ago, they were careful to bake the cookies twice, in order to form their unique shape and allow the cookies to develop their signature crisp texture. This second trip to the oven draws off moisture, and results in a crisp, dry texture, and a long shelf life. Over the years, these methods became standard practice. Bakers shape the dough into a log, bake it, evenly slice it into cookies (hopefully without crumbling), and then toast and turn the cookies again until they are perfect. There are many different varieties of biscotti, with some being more cake-like in texture, while some are very crisp and dry.

Traditionally, Biscotti were almond-flavored because almonds were plentiful. Today, you’ll find Biscotti in a myriad of different flavors. Their unique texture makes them perfect to dunk in your morning coffee, afternoon tea, or wine after dinner.

I want a series of biscotti because it's one of the best coffee/ tea companion (so called in preparation for TeaRoom). Also, I've gotten this biscuit and cookies recipe book from Shen, my last year's birthday present, and I've been wanting to try out some recipes. Haven't got any orders this weekend, so good time to carry out some experiments.
The flour was double sifted
An almond and raisin biscotti recipe
Need to fine tune and improve on the "shaping" of the log

After 1st round of baking

Sliced biscuits ready for 2nd round baking
Baked biscotti
I couldn't decide on the thickness of the biscotti when I did the slicing although the recipe said about 1cm. I've tried the ones from Starbucks and they were much thicker and very uniformed in sizes, of course. I was told that biscotti should be relatively thicker and harder so they can "withstand" the dipping in coffee (so they won't break or dissolved into our drinks). After trying a few thickness, yes, I think it should be some how slightly thicker. A thicker piece will also be able to contain the raisins better so we still get some moist and juicy raisins.
I thought perhaps the log should be taller, hence the biscotti will turn out to be bigger pieces, but MC said she prefers these current sizes - because it's small enough and she won't feel too guilty eating one. Haha...
These going out to my usual tasters. Me of course eating them with black coffee in my favorite giant Starbucks mug :).

My 3rd Pump of The Week
Doing class on Saturday has always been like a daze for me because of the less than 24 hours rest from Friday's workout and going straight from bed to gym, still half asleep. Now my exercise routine is not so crazy I'd say. When I first joined gym, I used to wake up early on Saturday for a 9.30am free-style step at LM, then go over to SPK for another round of BS and BJ. Too crazy already? I was desperate to lose weight at that time! Besides, it was all about "economic of scale" - My average cost per class those days was like RM4.50.
One of my new year resolutions is to increase BP classes, because since job change, I've only been able to manage an average of one BP per week. Humph... Found out that it's really no point because there is no result at all and not to mention ineffective strength maintenance.
So, yesterday was my usual (and 3rd of the week!) BP at LM with Hobbes. (Hobbes challenged us to increase 1kg throughout, as our new year resolution. Hmmm... no response from the floor. :p)
What track did we do? I can't remember all, but now I'm nursing muscle ache on my back. When we reached squat track, Hobbes said he needed to work hard in order to burn off that half box of cupcakes from Thursday (half box = 8 mini pieces, not so bad lah). Me on the other hand, worse, needed to burn off my "deadly" breakfast - NASI LEMAK!!! Yiakssss... more damaging ya?
Chest track was push up, same like Monday. The best part of this track for me is when we can shout out "I donno what I'm doing" (what am I doing torturing myself?!). Coming to back track, since it's back to old tracks again, I knew it's going to be nothing less then having a 6 clean and presses, or 4 in a row of clean and presses, or 7 deadrows etc etc... It was the 6 clean and presses WITH the 7 deadrows. Ouchh... back muscle ache.
I find that triceps is the track that I'm able to manage most "improvements". Managed to do a fuller range, didn't skip any repetition and felt my triceps strength increased. This tricep track reminds me of Queer Eye for The Straight Guy TV show (did I get the name of the show correct?). Luckily we didn't do Eye of The Tiger for biceps (which we did on Wednesday! and I THINK will be tomorrow...). Biceps is my most feared track, never been able to finish without skipping a few reps. Although it was a very lively song which we would really like to sing a long while reminded me that I do need a Car Wash in reality as well, it's very tough! Especially the quarter-quarter-half part.
I'd always love doing Hobbes class as he never fail to torture us. Haha... and Hobbes is a great company besides being a very good instructor, so am okay with no gym buddy. The one thing is, we are never able to "laugh" at him for mistakes in cueing. Hieee...
