Happy new year!

Year 2010.

Yeah, half an hour away and it's all around, everyone is talking about last year's (this year) achievements and coming year's resolutions... I guess everyone needs a target to work on. Mine remains as my TeaRoom and MFG dreams. Of course the on-going, every year the same little targets on being better in all aspects of life and personal attributes...

My target last year for TeaRoom was December 2009, time flies and it didn't happen. What is the new date? I cannot begin to tell... I will, however, continue to work on it. Keep the orders coming!

As for work, it has been erm, I cannot find a word to describe. Tough? Not really, there has not been difficult tasks, sometimes I get a bit bored even. However, enjoyable would not be a word I'd use to describe work. In fact, I drag going to work everyday, don't feel like going to work. But hey! What do I know? One year has passed already, I just need to persevere for a little longer. I guess the only unbearable thing is people matter in the office. Lets hope people change, for better.

MFG case... no ending story for this year. Not even close. Suffice to say that I like him more by the day, but also occasionally got tired of him. Perhaps it takes time, more time. Or perhaps it's not time. Lets rest the case for new year celebration.

Joyous of all was the arrival of my little cutie niece. She's such a bundle of comfort, by just cuddling her in your arms, you will feel that all your worries and stress have been gotten rid of. May she grow up happily with loads of love.

Wishing all of us a better year ahead. :)

Perhaps

I am feeling a bit sick. Have been feeling a bit sick since this morning. I would blame it to the poor air quality in the office, at my workstation in particular due to my neighbour polluting the air.

So feeling a bit vulnerable and sentimental. I felt like putting some facebook status that says...

"There may be this one that when you will tell me that you feel the same towards me too... but will I still feel the same when this one day finally arrives?"

Spring Cleaning the Dreams

I've cleaned up my table at work. Not cleaned up, CLEANED up, but cleared a lot of stuff from the table and it's looking less congested and fresher. I will put a reminder to continue with the spring cleaning of the workstation this week, before the year ends. I wasn't the only one who did that, in fact, some of my colleagues did a much better job than me in terms of spring cleaning.

It's year end and people are starting to talk about 2010 new year resolutions... I had a few but I don't know if I achieved them because I can't even remember what was my 2009 resolutions. However, I remember two of my biggest dreams, which none has come true this year. Like LGM said, it takes time for dreams to come true.

Of course there are small little dreams here and there and some little dreams have come true now and then. For example my recent Christmas present :).

I've cleaned out quite a lot of them and binned them during spring cleaning, among them were bonus, promotion, Europe trip... I plan to keep my TeaRoom and MFG dream for now.

There have also been some cleaning of bad karma recently. The robbery case, I believe, was a form of getting rid of some bad karma, the Chinese saying "lose some money to avoid disasters" applies. My recent fall at my very own front door, I also believe, was a form of getting rid of yet more bad karma. In both cases, there were some degree of suffering but it's very mild compared with many other tragedy happening around the world everyday.

Looking forward to a better year ahead. Happy new year to all in advance.

Tired of waiting

It's happening again lately. When the mind is not strong enough, the body says I should just give up and settle with second best, or something else, or just forget about the whole thing.

For example, supposedly registering of company should only take like about a week, but it must have been a month, or more actually. I can wait more, or I can do it myself. Scouting of shop location seems to be an unheard story from the other end. I can wait but I've gotten another friend to help out. Of late, I feel that it is better to start off with a modest small little outlet, build a base and then only expand. Meanwhile, it will be fine to just wait for the ideal location for TeaRoom. Otherwise, I will have to just settle with my current job with annoying colleagues, and boss, or look for another job.

It is a strange feeling. The more I see mfg, the more I feel the distance. It is hard to explain or pinpoint what is wrong but it just didn't feel right most of the time. For example, we chat on line everyday but the conversations encompass daily gossips generally; we hug each other every time we meet but sometimes I get the half hug; goodbye kisses are air kisses no difference from kisses for other friends; at the end of his occasion long glance, there was the non magical friendly smile.

I wish I can see the end of the road, so that I can decide now whether to walk this path.

Terrified!

House got robbed last Friday at 10.15am, that was half an hour after I left the house. I am feeling very bad because most probably if I lock the doors more and properly, the robbers wouldn't have been able to get in. Sigh... luckily mum and sis were okay. Don't feel like repeating the story but it's very terriying knowing that there are cases of robberies which are much much more serious as in the victims got tied up, beaten up etc... I can imagine how mum and sis must be feeling now.

Lets put that behind and be more careful from now.

Suddenly feeling very tired... another long week ahead.

When?

It has been so long since I didn't blog (in here)? There have been so much in my mind and I simply have too much story to tell but I can't really remember them now.

I am actually really tired at work. I don't know my fixed job tasks. I do know what I have to do tomorrow, or next week, but beyond that I won't be sure if the tasks will change. Today I have been demanded by the big boss to answer about inventory, when I said I do not know, I have been blamed for not being up to date with it. "Do I have to tell you everything?" was what the big boss told me, he asked why was it not done. "How come you know how to go home, or when to eat when I didn't have to tell you?" he told the whole room of people this. Geezzz.... maybe because my mother has taught me how to eat and told me that I must eat in order to live? And I was told and given my house address that's why I knew how to get home?

There was also a major drama about who should do what task, and how should certain procedures be implemented, and why this certain person has done things this or that way... so messy.

Many people want to leave the company already. Why are they (we) still here? We haven't got a job yet okay, otherwise we will be gone, so don't come and ask us why we are still here, and say something like "don't tell me all of you are gone when I'm back okay". Fine, we won't tell you. Any how, we won't be gone by the time you come back after your two weeks holiday because even if we resigned yesterday, we will still be serving our notice by the time you come back.

Why am I still here? Please... let me get hold of the location for TeaRoom soon.

My feeling mixture

This week which is ending tomorrow was a week of many feelings.

I felt frustrated when I knew earlier this week that I had to travel to Singapore because it was rather last minute. I was included in the travelling plan only later because the big boss felt that I need to go to Singapore to conduct a training which total up to about 2 hours. Boy, I do feel so important! And he told me to look at how the market roll out for is done, which later he said he didn't say that he told me to do so. Okay, so just training, and perhaps additional training - which of course no one got to organize due to last minute.

Sigh. So tired of rolling my eyes.

This Singapore trip is the reason why I will have to miss the dinner which LGM is planning for next Wednesday. Still planning?

On Friday, I was flaming during an early morning discussion with the GM and appeared to be fiery TTB the whole day then after. Some times the senior management just like to execute their brilliant ideas last minute. Do they know that people "down there" had to run around like mad in order to support that brilliant idea in question? There is this management that I happen to know has certain high expectation on the efficiency of their staff BUT they so happened to also have implemented this system and SOP which restrict their staff to be able to deliver what the management wants instantly. Hey, there are forms to be filled out, data to be entered, documents to be sent to suppliers, information to be updated BEFORE our hands can actually be on the case physically. And who told us that we must use the system?

Sigh. So tired of the management's directions(sssss).

This morning I was between laughing and screaming at the supplier (who had called me on my non-working Saturday, but it's okay, he's being responsible) who told me the artwork I gave him was in a COMPLETELY different colour. Trust me, that's how he'd expressed that word, underlined, bold and loud. Haiyo, so I asked, what? Instead of green it is in... PINK??? He said no, just different shade of green. Arghhh... yes, your designer DO adjust the colour prior to printing to meet our colour tone. Thankyouverymuch for calling.

Sigh. Please lah stop exaggerating, I already have my big boss doing that, no need for anyone else to also do that.

Okay... to complete the mixture, I do have some happy notes. Vary Pasta was opened and I'd successfully went for lunch with LGM, BO was there "coincidentally" too just before we left the place. The food was okay, I was told the cabonara I ordered was one of the not so nice ones on the menu, but it was great having LGM there so that I had someone to complain to about work. My mid-week break.

And the other happy note was lunch with MFG was on too. A lunch that had given my feeling mixture a good mix of flavours... My lunch journey started off with me contemplating whether to invite my other colleague to come along. Hesitated till the last second before I left the office and I left alone. Then I was lost. Hmm... I couldn't find my way to the restaurant in 1U that he said we were meeting. And just when I was standing at the cross road (figure of speech) I got a text from him asking "are you lost?" haha... I was indeed! After some more direction in that text message, though it beats me how he knew I was lost, I still couldn't find. At last I got a call from him saying that he just saw me because I just walked passed him. Hey, how can that be? Ohh... apparently I walked passed him but I was one floor below him. Okay, don't ask.

So finally, lunch time! But I wasn't hungry, moreover, I was and have been having gastric. But doesn't matter what I eat or how my stomach felt, I could still strangely feel the butterflies that were fluttering in my stomach. Hey, it was just MFG who I've known for more than 2 years, what's with the butterflies?! And I can't even explain that occasionally long stare he gave me. Oh, one explanation - it was just my imagination.

Sigh. A sigh of relief that it's weekend, too bad Saturday is over now and I only have one more day before the torturous business trip commences. Let me first catch up with sleep...

Congestion

Left home early for gym this morning but instead of arriving at 7.30am, I only reached gym at about 8.10am. Grrrr... there was a massive traffic congestion after the toll near my house area and that was 6.30am! Later found out that the jam was caused by some road work and 2 lanes were closed. Haiyo, for goodness sake, can't they stop the construction during peak hours?!

So I was at gym early this morning only to shower and get ready to work. Humph... Ohh... and managed a quick chat with Swee, which was a comfort after that so very annoying congestion. Totally spoilt my plan. I went back to the gym after work just now and joined an RPM class. Finally some satisfying workout. My dinner was 2 cups of fruit juice and some "sengkuang" what is this called in English again? Anyways, how come 2 cups so over right... I actually bought the drinks from the MBG fruit stall. There was another customer who ordered fruit juice also and he took mine. After one sip of the juice I told them it was a wrong one. They actually gave me a replacement, or I should say that they gave me another extra cup. Oh well, they actually have no use of the wrongly made (left behind) one so yeah, might as well let me drink that. So, I had 2 cups of juices :). And I really must commend the staff at MBG, they provide good customer service. They will recognize you and call you by your name - which are leng lui for me haha... and all other girls. I wonder if they address their regular guy customers as leng chai, must observe the next time I go.

I had this strange feeling this afternoon... I have been talking to him the whole day, and yesterday, and in fact almost everyday whenever we are on line, but just now I felt that I really really missed him. Is seeing the person a remedy towards this feeling?

Vary Pasta tomorrow!!

Motivation

Got called in for a motivational cum pre-review-review cum career planning talk last Friday with the big boss, other boss, and one GM... they said I am ready for my next move and would like me to take up new tasks, learn more things and move up. I will be monitored for 3 months and I am to show them that I can perform and I will then be joining the senior management team. There will be a lot of travelling to China and Singapore, and am the perfect candidate to handle these countries especially China because I can speak Mandarin. And about this new job scope, it's not about whether I can (they have no doubts that I can wor) it whether I want to or not.

Roll eye. Those who'd heard me for the pass two years know why.

PiC just asked if there's any progress... hmm... I don't know how is progress supposed to look like. I've met him for lunch last week, and the week before... maybe for the pass month, we've been meeting up about once a week for lunch. Occasionally with lamp post, but still were meeting. Just asked if I'm seeing him this week because there's some excuse erm... reasons to meet. We used to meet every Thursday but he suggested Wednesday this week.

Told him need to confirm first, I've planned to go to this pasta place (which we missed the last time) this Weds. Finally decided not to give up plans with LGM although she said meeting him is more important. No lah... pasta plan is on and on the other hand after finding out my lunch plan, he said maybe Thurs is okay. Haiyo... like that see how lah. To be confirmed tomorrow.

While I type this, BO said Vary Pasta not that nice. But I'm sure we are still going there right LGM...?

So back to progress... I really don't know. Things will just stay like how they are for now I think, there's nothing to motivate a change in relationship or any other arrangements.

Stupidity

To Brand & Marketing Manager:

You do NOT need the graphics designer to do scanning unless you do not know how to use the scanner/ photocopy machine. Ohh... I guess that must be the case.

You also do NOT need the graphics designer to add a LINE in the scanned picture for your power point presentation because you can well add that damn line yourself using the draw function in power point!! That is, unless if you are not good in power point. Ohh... I guess so again.

Finally, you do not need to raise your voice and use the DAMN word when your graphics designer confirm her scanning job task with because you suddenly realize that what you have just assigned was a very stupid task.

Actually, what I really wanted to tell you is that if you are not so clever, try not to give stupid instructions. Even if you really need to give stupid instructions, please don't talk so loud, it's a torture to the other intelligent people around you.

Yours truly,
TTB

Dependant

Today I received an email from "management", one of the executives directors, telling me that I should take up the role of logistics - the other day I was supposed to take up manufacturing, production etc role. That's not it, his reason is that he wants the SENIOR staff to be able to take over should there be any JUNIOR logistic/ production staff leaving the company. This is so called to avoid occurrence of current "situation". Totally pissed off after receiving the email.

What's wrong with that email?

First of all that email was directed to me ("Dear TTB"... so it HAS to be for me) and I am NOT senior staff, there is this Assistant General Manager who is much much more senior compared to Assistant Manager (that's me). Secondly, the production staff that just left was a MANAGER, not junior staff, and definitely not my junior. Lastly, this is the best preventive measure the company can come up with? So let people leave, we have the SENIOR staff to take care of the company? And this pissed me off also because this logistics task was originally agreed by all to be handled by assistant general manager..

Haha... they might suffer when I leave. Oh well, even so, I am sure they won't admit it, good luck to the company for getting new staff.

Admist all these grievance in the office, we had arranged for some activity to cheer ourselves up. A few of my colleagues have taken up the 7 days free trial at the gym, but so far they only went for 2 times and tomorrow is the last day (actually Wednesday but we have badminton on Wed). It is actually fun going to gym with a bunch of colleagues/ friends. Reminds me of those old days when I attended a whole list of classes with my gym mates. Today everyone FFK-ed, so instead of combat, I thought I'll do RPM. Plan was changed after I arrived really early at gym, but not early enough for the 6.3opm RPM, so I did half hour cardio, and then joined combat for 3 tracks.

Feeling very tired these days, cannot manage long hours at gym. Last Friday I was at The Curve, supposed to head down to KL for an appointment after showering at the gym (and at least 2 persons noticed that I ONLY went to shower, humph) but the appointment was cancelled, so I had dinner alone at Little Penang, and I sms-ed PiC to see if she could join me for a drink after her balance class. She did and we had a great time gossiping, she headed back to the midnight class while I had surrendered staying up any longer for the night. Took me great challenge to stay awake and drive home! I wish I have a driver, or I can teleport.

MC is already on MC (haha...) waiting to deliver her baby. :) Girl girl's birthday is going to be 30 October...

No need

I'm not going to Singapore!

There is really no need to go all the way just to "organize" things. I wonder if that's the kind of instructions my former Production Manager got - go "organize" things. Exactly what needs to be organized? I asked the messenger (one of my colleagues who is acting like the company CEO) who conveyed the "go organize" things message to me what is the exact meaning or task break down of "organize" things, but she couldn't answer.

I just can't help feeling despair most of the time. Anyways, I have "organized" whatever I can for this Singapore task and I have decided and informed the management that there is no need for a trip. In fact, the things has been "organized" by my Production Manager before he left. There was really no need to lose a Production Manager over this so called "unorganized" things - as ACCUSED by the management!

I also just heard that the company is practising "back-up" system. This is where at least two persons in the company would know how to manage one same job task. So, in other words the company is worried that more people will leave and want to have at least another person in the company who can take over immediately. Is this a SOLUTION? Looks like retention is still not in the agenda of the management.

I shall see who's going to back me up because I am playing a role of THE back-up at the moment. Huh!

Handle with care

I have this mixed feelings towards life lately.

It looks like my TeaRoom dream is reachable for now, it good to have a focus in life, a focus on something I really really want. There is this something else which I wish to have, but I have been trying to brush off that longing all these while, hoping that my TeaRoom focus can distract me.

Have you experienced this before? You feel, think, that you can put aside your special feelings towards someone, that you and him are best mates and the arrangement is just fine. But there are days when you discover traces of feelings which indicates that the feelings has grown and not put to stop. So what do you do? Stop seeing this "friend" of yours? Does feelings stop growing by just not seeing, not hearing and has nothing to do with a person? Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Most of the time, things that seem so straight forward turn out to be the most complicated thing to handle. Often I feel so helpless till there is nothing else I can do but sigh. Big sigh. haiiiizz....

On the happier note, I'm still seeing my favorite guy from time to time, still chatting everyday, still getting a lot of support and encouragement from him. He's still a close friend, good listener, good consultant... Lets just handle this the way it has always been, for now.

Relaxing

At Starbucks, Borders, Gardens. One of our favorite, zen hangout place. Was planning to stay here for a while, have breakfast, read magazine, blog, surf the net... But suddenly do feel like I should get home to do some work. I've been feeling a bit uneasy lately when I start to relax too much, I just forever feel like there is something which I've forgotten to do, or that I should get on with my chicken pie experiment, haha...

Today I have to bake 2 batches of biscotti for an order, I'm making MFG's bear and company logo for him because he just told me last few days that apparently the bear and logo was "damaged". No, not his fault, the sugarpastes I used for the firgurines have some "technical" problem, was not very stable. Even cousin's bear (the headstand one) had to be remade. I also should be making in advance some firgurines for next Friday's delivery because there is a "danger" that I might have to do a business travel middle of next week, sigh. Lazy to do so and it will effect my orders and deliveries.

I pray for the venue of TeaRoom to be confirmed soon...

Retention

This month, 3 of my colleagues left, okay 4 to be precise because there was a tea lady who came in half a day and call it quit.

What happened?

Lets see... 2 of them resigned because of one senior management staff. Hmm... call him a tough guy, but it's basically rudeness - or you don't use that word on bosses right? - perhaps say no respect towards the staff. Hey, we are not slaves, or worse dogs. Even pets you can't just scold them! Okay, you basically can, but they won't understand or bother about you.

Anyways, this one colleague who left this morning was classic. He has been told off (to put it mildly) on Tuesday and he left after that episode, didn't tell anyone where he was going and didn't respond to sms and phone calls then after. He didn't turn up the next day and my accountant called his wife to check... da da da... he turned up this morning, handed over his laptop, his phone... and left immediately. He couldn't even get himself to stay for a one month notice and was willing to fore go his salary and even face the chances of having to pay the company back for leaving without enough notice.

Or maybe the tea lady's case was more classic? She turned up in the morning, the earliest to arrived, right after me and was asking if there were things that she could do... looks genuinely hardworking and committed to work. She went in later to serve the boss (another boss different from the above) and straight after she came out, she told me EA that she is going to quit. And my big boss told us he didn't say ANYTHING to her. Oh well... his looks kill? Perhaps.

Everyone in the office, including me is just in major bad mood. Okay, not to say bad mood lah, it more of "sien", bored and lazy. Everyone who is still here is supposed to take over all other people's job. There are major changes in job tasks, well call it cross exposure and advancement, or whatever, but whether do these people in question are comfortable with the new task? Are these changes going to bring them nearer to their career goals or completely opposite? Worse still, maybe unclear direction altogether.

I was suddenly told just now that I have to make a trip to Singapore next Wednesday, together with a few colleagues, which sounded like the whole office. Anyways, I have a confirmed order for Friday and cannot afford extended trip. After running through some possible ways to get me out of it and fulfil my delivery, it was just as simple as telling the boss I have prior arrangement on Thursday and I can only do a day or the most overnight trip. And he said okay. For now.

I wonder when is the next drama and who's gonna be the main character this next time. It looks like the "company" just want to get rid of people they don't like, instead of managing them. And my very own MFG got the blame for recruiting "these type" of staff. That includes me? Geezz... obviously staff retention is not a priority.

Where have I been?!

Goodness! My last post was last month!!

I have been really tired and am still very tired, must go to sleep early after this post since I haven't posted anything for a long time.

I actually had so much to complain about during the last two weeks but I really couldn't find time to type a word here. The week of 5th October marked the commencement of my crazy schedule - at the full time job, most of us had to work 10am to 10pm for the new product launch. And there was this day when I had tried to "escape" from the duty and be at the charity fair. Before that was the tempting Ferrari California order, which by the way, gotten very bad review, passing points only and that's because the customer was kind enough. Bad review because the cake wasn't nice to start with, sounded so not edible, sob. And the car wasn't at all looking like a Ferrari. Okay, as MFG said, room for improvement, don't think too much. I will make another car with styrofoam later. Just to satisfied the picture gallary.

So, I had been working on the Ferrari delivery since Sunday and it was until 2am, 3am, and the extreme one was until 5.30am! I actually only went into work at 10am that day. Continued with preparation for charity fair and luckily I had my cousins to help, otherwise I think I wouldn't be able to make it at all!

It was also very comforting to have MFG at site as well, although he's managing his own station. Oh, LGM was there and got introduced to MFG (literally because I introduced MFG as "MFG" to LGM haha...). LGM bought a few cupcakes and she also bought some for/ on behalf of LP, thanks for the support dears. My yoga instructor booked some carrot cupcakes, but couldn't make it, so she collected the next day. MFG bought a few as support too. The location of the stall wasn't that ideal, so cousin bro and me went around to sell to the tables where the dinners were. It was quite successful until the parade started. Too crowded to be selling things then.

After that was a full day at work, on a Sunday, so no rest day for me last week. No rest after that either as there was another order that I had to start preparing soon after that. I just delivered that 3 boxes today, I hope the response is good and won't get bad review again.

I thought I will take a break and one order should be enough already for this week. But fortunately, I am still going to meet my "KPI" - I've just confirmed another order for this Sunday. Next Friday is booked already and I foresee a few more orders coming in.

Next week I will look into the TeaRoom location matters. Meanwhile, website development ready to commence. :)

Had lunch with LGM today at Bon Bon, wah, very good business, I'm sure TeaRoom can do as good! Thanks for suggesting the lunch place LGM, we must do lunch more.

Now eye lids cannot hold up any longer... nite nite.

Laziness overruled

Opened up a page here, I've got so much to say but suddenly overruled by laziness...

I've got a wedding cake project for this Saturday, though it's just one tier, but it should be very decorative, it's going to be fondant covered :). Then next week is the crazy week... also seems like everyone decided to have party next week and want to order something REALLY special.

Firstly I've got BIL's 2 boxes of cupcakes ordered like weeks, month ago... one box is Korean theme, and the other box mahjong... the mahjong tiles are in the making already. Then I also have MC's standing doll cake, or we like to call it Barbie doll cake although it's not Barbie, this also she ordered like 2 months ago... Should be interesting.

Then I got this invites to the charity fair and I negotiated with BIL to deliver his cupcakes earlier of the week, MC's still has to be on Sat, but will start making it early the week, her doll cake needs a few days to construct and decorate.

And THEN just when I have decided that I have to, HAVE to close order for that week, next week, I've got an inquiry for a Ferrari. A FERRARI!!! Geezzz... how cool is that? and how tempting! Itchy hand. But realistically, and not to disappoint anyone, I told the customer I can't only do a small one, but since it's for 50 people, maybe have a simple, normaly square underneath for the car to sit? Awaiting reply, should know in the next few days.

AND THEN right... today, I got an inquiry for Hermes. A HANDBAG! How cool is that? and even more tempting! And yeah you guess right, it's for that very Friday same as the Ferrari. Geezz... I want to make them all, but how to manage? I will be so frustrated and stressed out. Just now when I was baking my 2 chocolate cakes (for the wedding cake), I was so tired I asked myself - Can I take a break tonight? But I know if I didn't get on with it, I wouldn't be able to meet the timeline.

Meanwhile, the TeaRoom info sheet and costing has been sent through, so now waiting for feedback on venue scouting and investor's contribution.

I told LGM I was sleepy, but want to blog, so I did! But leave this "original" without spell check :p

Oh... I went to an RPM class last night! After many weeks of morning workout, the gym looked extremely crowded last night. And I met MFG after gym last night :)

TeaRoom Test Kitchen

Good news! For me lah...

My cousin brother is quite a good chef... Remember I was so stressed out because I haven't got my lunch menu and savoury items? Though there are loads of recipes, but I just don't have time to try any of them out, besides, I'm not very skillful with my cooking hehe... So, finally MC suggested that I assign the project to cousin bro and the arrangement turned out just fantastic.

So, we have now shortlisted 3 items on the lunch menu. We will try about 6, choose a few then get on to the next assignment. I think I will have about 5 items to start TeaRoom and gradually add to about 10 items. Besides these, there will be a lot of snacks and dessert items, so one doesn't have to eat such a huge lunch, there will always be room in one's stomach for dessert! Haha... and if you are in a "junkie" mood, can have all sorts of little bites for lunch, why not? Must we eat so called "proper" meal during lunch?

Ohh... thanks for all the wishes and lucks. I hope I collect enough to start TeaRoom.

Updates...

I miss msn-ing with Swee during office hours :p. I've totally uninstalled Messenger, so not going to log on at all with office laptop. I'm trying to "clean up" the office laptop as much as I can - I GOT A NEW LAPTOP!

Hee...

Went laptop shopping with MFG yesterday, we went to 3 shops and I managed to make a decision in within about an hour or so. Very effective shopping when you get good advice ;). And you know what? The laptop is light blue in colour. Hardcore TeaRoom now haha... We went to Starbucks later on, chit chat, look at stuff on line and update him on my TeaRoom progress... until he had to leave for his dinner appointment and I had to rush back to complete Thomas the train cake and 2 other boxes of cupcakes delivery for today.

Before my meeting up with MFG, I went for a discussion with my TeaRoom investor and also his wife who can help us scout for the venue. I asked my investor when is the best time for him, in return, he asked me when can I be ready. Well... I need one month notice to resign, so now I guess it's all depending on the venue availability. But of course I have to work out two main piece of information - the product portfolio write up and costings.

I'm so excited about TeaRoom. Wish me luck!!!

It has been a crazy week!

First of all, good news!!!

Mum has given up stopping me from doing TeaRoom. So... there will be a discussion with my investor/ partner tomorrow, and lets see if I can go full force in making my dream come true soon! So happy...

Raya delivery week has been really crazy, lets see... these were what I've delivered:

2 carrot cakes
17 chocolate cakes
16 boxes of cupcakes
1 box of graduation cupcake
4 boxes of pineapple tarts
1 brownies
2 walnut, dates cake
about 200 chocolate chips cookies

All in one week. Luckily I had 3 helpers, otherwise, I couldn't have done that even if I had 36 hours a day. It could have been slightly less hectic if i could get another day of annual leave. Oh, there was a memo saying that everyone is not supposed to take leave till the new skin care is launched. I wonder what's the topic of our next memo.

Now that I've worked with some helpers, it gave me more confidence in training staff and quite sure that the tasks are quite easy to learn. Having said that I had help - my cousins by the way - I still had to handle the cakes on my own, except for the walnut dates cake. Cousin brother was the one who had done a great job in baking, the girls did more of the cupcake decorations. Oh, the chocolate ketupats are done by cousin brother. Paid out a few hundred to them as the wages today and everyone was very happy and really got a sense of achievement. Got feedback from customers already saying that they were happy with the deliveries.

I've forgotten to bring back my laptop adaptor, I've only half the battery left, so I must shut down soon to conserve some battery for the next few days in case I don't drop by the office to get the adaptor. Alternatively, I'll go get a new laptop. Haha...

Banned from Chit-Chatting

I got a memo from management last two days tell me that MSN and Yahoo messenger whatsoever instant chats are banned. We are to uninstall all of these programmes from our laptop and only keep skype as our official office communication tool.

Fine.

When my IT support colleague asked me "how many percentage do you want to remove?" *wink wink. I told him I will help myself don't worry, and deleted all the shortcuts. I will actually uninstall the programme once I got my personal laptop. Yeah planning to get one soon. So goodbye world, I will be appearing offline (really offline) from now on, until I quit this job, or during non office hour.

Full time TeaRoom

Today was a day of TeaRoom. Started baking and preparation for my Raya orders from 9am until about 6pm. I had my 2 cousins over to help, both extremely helpful and very fast learners, I hope they had fun too.

Working full time TeaRoom is actually very tiring compared with sitting in the office from 9am to 6pm. But still, I would prefer doing TeaRoom a zillion times more than my current job. Perhaps I was physically tired, but at work, it's mentally tired and very bored doing things that don't interest me anymore. What more with bosses and seniors who irritate the hell out of me.

Today was like the real TeaRoom life - prepare for physical hard work, getting hands dirty, downgrading hour wages, pressure... But I know I really want to do this.

"Jia You!"

Saturn Transit

My colleague just told me about the transit which happens every 2 1/2 years. So it has just begun and this is the time things will change and we must try to attract what we want.

So I googled to find out about the Transit of Saturn over my zodiac sign.

Effect of Saturn Transit on Cancer (Karka)
Saturn is currently transiting your third house. Saturn is going to give you good results and enhance your confidence and give you the desired results which you were expecting for a long time. Conditions at work place will also improve and you are likely to get full support from your superior and bosses. Success is assured from all spheres. Traveling will be beneficial for you. People in business should expect good results and gains from deals. Your honor and prestige will be on upswing in this transit. You may also go on a long-awaited pilgrimage. However, you need to be more confident in your approach. Short journeys could be tiresome. Throat and ear related problems should be considered seriously.

You might feel the desire for more education from many different sources. You may notice that there are increased opportunities to learn through workshops, seminars etc. This 3rd house has a lot to do with your immediate environment as it rules siblings, neighbors and routine in that regard. It also has to do with your mental abilities and mental processes. Saturn transit will give good effects and favorable period. You will get pleasure, honor and expand your social base. Domestic life will be harmonious though you may face some trouble through your brothers. You will enjoy sound health. Chronic sufferers will get relief.

This is for MC and BIL:

Effect of Saturn Transit on Leo (Simha)

Saturn is transiting your second house. You are in the third and last phase of your Sadhe Saati. Problems regarding loss of health, wealth will be there. Some friends, relations and colleagues may turn against you. Those in business may suffer financial losses. Domestic atmosphere will get vitiated by arguments and altercations. Family troubles and financial worries will crop up. Delay and hindrance will continue in all your ventures. Business people have to pass through a period of frustration. Fresh investment and further expansion of business should be with held. There are also chances of you being misquoted and misunderstood. Even your spouse may not understand you correctly. Your enemies will be at large in this transit and may disturb your peace. Saturn seeks to make you more responsible with your own money so that you will have more money in the end. By the time this transit is over, you will have a new appreciation for money and what it can do for you.

Eii? Hmm...

MFG's

Effect of Saturn Transit on Aquarius (Kumbha) :Saturn is currently transiting your eighth house or you are under the sway of Ashtam Shani. You will feel a squeeze on shared financial money. This could include anything from insurance, taxes, stocks, bonds, inheritance, debts, loans or anything else that is a shared resource with a partner. This can be with a marriage partner or business partner. There is a strong possibility that you will need to learn how to live with less money especially if you have had "shared" money with someone else. Remember that Saturn doesn’t cause trouble. All it does is bring it to the surface. Saturn going through your 8th House doesn’t have to indicate anything like the world shaking. Saturn transiting the eighth brings about sexual dysfunctions, whether we encounter these in ourselves or in our partners. We may face difficulties satisfying our partner and/or encounter problems with intimacy. Life will be quiet unsteady. Saturn’s transit in this house is poised to spoil your health and undiagnosed health problems may be a matter of concern. You may suffer from chronic ailments. Financial matters and all transactions could come under a cloud and strain. Loss of position, wealth is possible. You will face undue delay in recovering long pending dues. Expenditure will be more than income. You are likely to get some unexpected money like from legacy insurance etc.

Hmmm...

But, sounds like good outlook for Cancerian. Maybe it's a good time to start TeaRoom. :)

Fighting with time

Stat report shows that the readership of this blog is dropping alarmingly. Oh well, there's nothing for the readers to read actually!

I've got a lot of Raya order aka hectic baking schedule. I am grateful, don't get me wrong, just that my 2 days leave application has been rejected, but thankfully, boss allowed me to take one day off. So my one whole day, potentially more than 15 hours of baking/ decorating activities have to be spread out so I have to work another 4 hours extra from today. (tomorrow coming back late due to an order delivery). Very upset with boss, he said 2 days tooooo long and it's so busy. Well, yeah, the office is very busy, but not that my workload is up to my eye ball or something, it's other people being busy and he just want to tell everyone that no leave will be approved from then. So yeah, he loudly announced after being very annoyed for signing my leave form that no one else is suppose to take leave from now until the new skin care product is launched in October. Fine.

I might not be blogging as often. I need sleeping time. Thankfully, even though my cousin sister has to be "on leave" for SPM, my cousin brother is on term break. Phew... he's been a VERY big help. He is also going to be my chef for my TeaRoom Savoury Test Kitchen. :)

And MFG's order came in just nice, just before my hectic schedule, so delivered his today. I was so upset and carried away with my leave issue (among another annoying issue) that I was not prepared when he gave me a big hug. Aww... so warm. Thanks, that was really comforting. Only a bit clashed due to wrong coordination for the goodbye kiss.

I'm so sleepy, but "jia you"! I need to work now.

Miss

Sometimes I wonder who will actually notice my MSN personal message. It was fun the other day when LGM, BO and I were putting up our respective comments and answers towards "yao char kuey" as our personal messages. Today I put up an excerpt of my conversation with Swee "do something else besides TTB" and a friend asked me what is "TTB". A few people asked me last few days "who is it that you miss?" because the personal message was "miss you loads". And all who'd asked basically knew who I miss lah, simply asking. But still, I didn't "say" who, and this certain person was not told personally, so this person also doesn't know unless he is clever enough, or somewhat quite "perasan" :p.

I wish I have a set of tools that can "repair" my feelings. There is someone whom I don't see all the time, in fact I seldom see him (perhaps once a month or less) but when I knew that he's not in the country, I missed him a lot. Strange right? No difference whether he's in the country or not, I still don't see him. Maybe when you think of someone, your heart is actually with him, and when he flew far away, you heart is no longer with you.

Bugging me

The flu bug has been bugging me lately. I would call it a bad sinus which has been bugging me for the passed 20 years or so. Combined with tiredness and late nights, I supposed my body has reach its time for a shut down for maintenance. You know the saying about no time to be ill? It's true, there are so many deadlines for deliveries lately that I must "choose" when to be sick.

I wasn't feeling that great yesterday at work, have been sneezing and had a running nose. Got myself to last through the whole day, but decided that I needed to pay my doctor a visit. Doctor gave me a day off and I've opted for the drowsy type of flu medicine.

The medicine was so potent, slept through the whole night and I only woke up this morning because I needed to take care of my little pig. Had some watermelon juice and a banana just because I needed some food to go with my medicine. After that was more sleep, from 10am till 5pm, no lunch. I'm still feeling very dizzy so I skipped the flu medicine this evening.

Now to get more sleep and hopefully I'm all set for more deadlines and late nights...

Ohh... MFG sent me a text this morning after not seeing me on line. :)

Support

I was so touched when I got the "guinea pig" support from LGM and Swee. In fact LGM has given her comments on the chicken pies and the best thing about her comments is she told me what she dislike and like. So in this way, I would know what to improve and what not to change.

Swee has also taken 2 of the chicken pies even though she has her "numbers" to watch and achieve. Since I know that the fillings is not great, told her to just try the pastry because I think the pastry is also very important when it comes to pie besides the fillings.

MFG on the other hand, even though my official taster, told me that maybe I should not give the pies to him if I don't think it is nice because he doesn't want to get a bad first impression. Humph... and huh? bad first impression? I would have thought bad first impression will actually do "good" because version 2 of this pie onwards will taste better. So I guess like LGM has put it, MFG is the VIP taster, and perhaps he should be arranged to try the ultimate version only. But still, I could do with some "support", couldn't I?

I have asked my cousin sis to try for me, but don't think anyone at home can give me much help. I still see same number of pies at home this morning. I will be throwing them away when mum is not looking. Soon...

Next round I should make lesser quantity so I don't have to throw so much away. Okay, actually I shouldn't think that way, I shall aim to achieve a perfect version the next round!

Thanks again to guinea pigs!!! ;)

Here are the comments for my notes:

LGM said overall edible
- Pastry not as hard as stone to throw (LOL), not fluffy and brown enough. Good thing about dough not super oily and actually melts in your mouth (I think this is because I used unsalted butter and not those pastry margarine)
- Chicken filling, don't use mince meat, use diced
- No sweet corn and peas

Swee said she took more than one bite
- Pastry okay, buttery and salty enough (not sure whether will be too soft after heated)
- Chicken filling a bit plain and dry, don't put onions that she can taste the texture and don't chop mushroom too fine.

Okay, anything else to add? Lets take a break and I shall deliver version 2.

Chicken Pie - Experiment 1

Here's version 1 of the chicken pie. I think the pastries are okay but the filling is actually quite terrible.

I got this Little pies and cake recipe book from sis as a birthday present previously. Saw these mini party pies which I thought are so cute and I like things in smaller sizes... So adapted the filling recipe from here... Hmm... it's actually quite bad. The pastry dough in this book are all ready to roll, so I took the pastry recipe from another recipe book.

I needed 2 types of pastries for the chicken pie - a shortcrust pastry for the base, and a puff pastry for the top. The puff pastry took me about 2 hours - you need to chill the dough for 30 minutes after every roll and fold. Next time I shall make the dough in advance and freeze them.

Here are pictures taken on the one MC made. She made a giant chicken pie with a very thin pastry but delicious filling. It was like eating fillings :). But I think there should be some pastry... and perhaps not use can soup since according to MC, cousin bro could tell that it was Cambell straight away.

I'm now in between throwing away the pies, or torturing my tasters. Haha...
Okay, till then...

I will try my best...

I was quite inspired the other day when Swee discussed about this Chinese proverb - "百世修得同船渡,千世修来共忱眠". We were discussing the word "修" and were trying to determine what was the best translation for this word to English. Normally this word alone means something like "cultivate" but in this sentence, it doesn't mean cultivate. Well, it does still have the essence of cultivating I feel, but we thought then that it was supposed to mean more like "put in effort" or "hard work".

This proverb was from the Buddha - 佛曰: 百年修得同船渡,千年修得共枕眠! 而千年之后又能相守几时? 并非我曰! He also said - 五百次的回眸,才换来人群中的一次擦身而过.

It is difficult to translate the proverb word by word, but if we must, this is what it means roughly - "one will get to be in a same boat (crossing the river etc) with another person after one has made an effort (to build a relationship) with this person in question for the passed one hundred years; one will get to share the same pillow (actually means gotten married with each other) with another person after one has made an effort (to build a relationship) with this person for the passed one thousand years."

Buddha also said - "only after one has turned five hundred times to glance at another person that one will get to closely pass by this other person in question in the crowd for one time."

The discussion topic was actually about "缘" - destiny.

Like Swee said, from her point of view, and it actually meant to say, that it took great effort and "time" for two persons to be able to be together; therefore, we must cherish everyone around us, especially your other half. It is not easy, IF ONLY we remember our passed lives (yes Swee, coming to that point too shortly) that you will really feel and say the "it's not easy" with conviction. And if you can "see" what you've gone through to get to where you are with him/her today, I'm sure you will definitely handle the relationship with utmost care. :)

Now I will leave Swee to talk about this in her blog - are you still going to blog about this? Else can always leave your views in my comments and start another discussion session here with some anonymous - if they do drop in. Haha...

So I told Swee that I feel really sad every time I see this proverb because I actually see this from another point of view as well - which you might think is negative.

If I have met someone I really like and have done all the right things I could but still couldn't get things to work out between the two of us, it is because there has not been enough effort during the passed lives to enable "enough" destiny for our relationship to work in this life. Therefore, there is nothing I can do about it - at least not for now.

So, knowing the "theory" behind this matter of destiny, I will not give up on all the possible efforts - I will still try my best to stay in touch with him, make sure I send him a "good morning" message everyday, be at outings and occasions where he will be at, pamper him with as many gifts as I can (or as he will accept), and not give up being just his best friend because I've probably put in a lot of effort in the passed nine hundred years to get to be his best friend - and with all these aforementioned efforts, I will probably get to be with him in my next, or next next next next life.

(note to self - lets just 往生净土 and never "come back" actually)

Nevertheless, I'm somewhat positive, no?

And my dearest said, the problem is I will not remember (him). I know I won't remember him, but with so much effort, I know I will like him all over again.

And hopefully he will feel so too then.

Lifestyle modification

TA is feeling better... (Thanks LP for your concern). Visited TA this morning, together with MFG. I didn't bake TA anything because I wasn't sure what is it that he can or cannot eat, and whether he has the appetite to eat... So I made a TTB and gave just the TTB to him without any cake. It's a TTB in bandage reading a get well soon card. TA looked good, he said he could be discharged later the evening, not too bad for angioplasty.

While I was waiting for MFG at the lobby of Gleneagles, I came across the directory stating "Diet Counselling Centre", that reminded me of the "lifestyle modification" package at PCMC (MC told me). I suppose that is also something to do with weight management. TA told me since the passed 10 years, he'd changed his eating habits a lot and ask any of us from my ex-company and we can tell you how much weight he'd lost.

Sometimes we just have to give up certain thing for our health. As for me, I'd given up (almost) evening gym regime for my baking and TeaRoom biz. I've been going to the gym in the morning - reach gym at about 7.25am (haha... so precise) and finished off at about 8.10am to shower and get ready to go to work. With this schedule, I can still have the same hours of sleep (no need to wake up extra early). I tried going to the morning 7am RPM class the other day, but I was late even though I woke up earlier. I was extremely sleepy later that day and don't feel that energetic. So decided to drop the morning class arrangement.

It's some what different going to the gym in the morning. It's more serene and kind of slower pace. There are many people in the gym already early in the morning but not as many and as crowded as the evening time. It also made me feel good after a good sweat out in the morning. Besides, it made me feel good by knowing that I don't have to give up my workout routine altogether.

There is a delivery tomorrow, so will be going over to Damansara area, I will try to workout at TC so that I don't just drive all the way there to deliver one cake, very not profitable doing that. After that journey, I would have to prepare for another delivery, my aunty's order so she will come pick up from my house. Then I will be baking the cake which is for Tuesday delivery. (Swee, I'm not coming to Monday pump again, need to decorate the cake for the Tuesday delivery.)

LGM, doesn't look like I've got time to look into the chicken pie yet.

Okay, I better get some sleep.

Sigh...

Sometimes I feel like I've got so much to say, but when I start composing, I don't know what to say.

My ex-boss, the one from previous company whom I normally refer to as TA, is in ICU after his angioplasty. Sigh... I drove from Taman Tun to Jalan Ampang just now because I didn't know he was still in ICU, and thinking of visiting him since I just got the news at almost 6pm. It was so congested. Got a call from his wife just before I reach Jalan Ampang that the visiting hour was over and they migh not let me in. So decided that I will go visit tomorrow instead. I hope he gets well soon. Sigh...

It has been extremely tiring going to office lately. The big boss is like very "angin", a bit short tempered lately. Many people got annoyed with him. Sadly also there is this B&M manager who is not agreeable with her creative team and many other people don't seem to like her attitude much. This is our third B&M manager, reminds me of the Defence Against Dark Art teacher in Harry potter, I think we might just get another manager in the next semester. Naturally, many people are planning to leave. Oh I so want to leave too, sigh...

On the happier note. I've been getting inquiries and orders every week. I just delivered a cake today and there will be another one for Sunday. MFG has introduced a lot of customers to TeaRoom actually. :)

And LGM inquired about chicken pies. I shall look into that k...

Meanwhile, MC is battling with her glucose level... oh yeah, "confirmed" it's a girl. :)

Honey Mustard Chicken

I've kicked start TeaRoom savoury "Test Kitchen"... and here's the first thing I tried. A honey mustard chicken. This is a slow cook chicken recipe, sweeten by the honey which I love, but the mustard seeds were a bit much for me. However, BIL, both cousins said it was nice.

Great, but lets move on to something else.

Mistakes increases with Experience

I wonder if I can call myself an experience baker and no longer a beginner. I started baking when I was in primary school, completed a hotel and catering course WITH training in the commercial kitchens, delivered over a 100 orders this year... I think at least I can say I've enough experience.

Now, if you are a beginner reading this, and have been or is going through some really annoying moments on failures - sunken cakes, burnt cookies, make a mess handling icing, don't know what is a fondant... I hope you feel better after knowing that I had actually had 2 failures in a row just last night, and the worst? I was baking an item I was so, SO good in baking.

How come? Sometimes I think the risk of mistakes is higher for experience people. When you are so experience in something, you tend to be less detail. For example, I wouldn't double check the list of ingredients again (and therefore leaving something out if I haven't been baking that item for a long time), I don't take notes anymore (because I might think that I will remember), I don't check my stuff in baking for 10 times (will just leave it to bake, and before I know it, the stuff might be burnt). There are many more things you tend to leave out when you get more experience.

It is of course frustrating when you fail not an experiment, but an actual delivery. Especially when time is pressing, and it's like 3am in the morning... It doesn't take me any more faster either with my order preparations, I often work till 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning. But at the end of the day, when I get good feedback from customers, that's when I said to myself, all the effort and time, and sweat (literally) and tears (also literally) are all very worth it. And of course a little "jia you" message from MFG would be good lah at bad times. Hee... But of course with Carebear (Shall I still ust this blog name of yours?) saying she'll get me a Forever Friends for Christmas is also very motivating :). And LGM if she knows that I've got heavy baking schedule, she'll send me message to check if I was still "alive". Thanks dear, that helped! ;)

Back to the post topic, I think we should try to be careful and detail no matter how good we are in something. Also, sames goes to dealing with people, no matter how close we are with someone, I think we shouldn't be careless and must still try to give the attention to detail at all times. Don't you think?

;)

keeping me going...

Something I got from my instructor of my recent cake decorating diploma course after I've written to update her on my progress. :)

Hi,

Great to hear from you and my apologies for the delay in responding. I just got back into Toronto today from the ICES Convention in Chicago where Tan See Fong and I both did demos. Very successful demos we both had.

As for your projects, they look “TERRIFIC”. Well done! It is quite an honor to have a student do such astounding work of art. Keep up the good work and remember, without a good student, there is no Sifu. Thanks for the kind words anyway. Greatly appreciated. Drop by and say hi sometimes when I am in KL and tell me all about your great projects!!!!

Take care.

Things that keep me going on...

I've got some very encouraging message recently...

This one after little bro's birthday cupcakes -

Hi I got your details from (little bro). I was leading the ngxm conference when (little bro)'s cupcakes were delivered. They were delicious but most of all I was impressed by the detailing on each cake.

I am writing to tell your how clearly your passion, pride and love of what you do show in your work. Hopefully I will have occasion to order from you soon (if ever in kl long enough!)

In the meantime if you see readers from strange places in Asia, it's just me ( in vietnam now) otherwise please introduce yourself if I am ever in a club where you are.

Regards

Tired

Very tired lately and haven't been blogging much in here... There is only one order for the coming week, and I have a small project - present for MFG on the opening of his company. So, I guess I'll be going to gym as usual and perhaps get enough sleep. Have a bit of back ache problem since last week...

And I'm currently extremely upset for loosing my gold necklace with the purple crystal pendant. Well, I don't know how I loose it, the last time I saw it was when I took it off to put it into my handbag before I changed into my gym attire. That was last Saturday after a wedding party in the afternoon. There are 2 possibilities, I dropped it when I went down to my car to take my gym shoes (yeah... I left the shoes in the car and went down after I've changed into the gym outfit, with the chain inside the handbag), so maybe when I took out my car keys, the car keys had some how hooked onto the necklace and it dropped, without me realizing of course, otherwise I wouldn't have loose it. Second scenario would be someone stole it... Is it possible? I mean inside the gym? And this has again 2 scenarios, one is someone open the locker, which I don't think so right? No one else would have the keys right? Second would be someone took it from my handbag when the locker was opened briefly - left it opened for a while to blow dry my hair since there were one another 2 members there (non peak hour) and the locker was just beside me...

Arghhh... I don't know how I loose it, analysing would not help either. So... I guess I'll just sulk for a while and hopefully snap out of being upset soon. I wish the necklace will miraculously appear again!

Ohh... on the happier note. Celebrated MC and BIL's birthday today. Belated for MC and earlier for BIL. I hope they like the cake. I would have done something more elaborated but the celebration was quite brief. I will perhaps make the elaborated cake when we have a big party the next time k. Had TTBs on the cake and it was a coffee cake. Will blog this in the TeaRoom blog during the next few nights, since I've got internet access back. Oh yeah, modem malfunction - we've got a new modem now.

Now, today is Sunday. And Sunday nights are normally sleepless, insomnia nights due to pre-Mondayblues.

Wish me luck in falling asleep...

Internet connection!

Ahuh!!! Finally got internet access at home...

I haven't blogged for a week, not in here, but I've been having good number of updates in the TeaRoom blog. "Business" has been quite good lately and that equals to less sleep, no gym and litmited time to blog in here. It's all worth it I am sure, and consider me being really lucky because I've been given so much room for creativity, so called, for the recent orders and I had been able to indulge in a lot of fun preparing the deliveries.

A lot of people was very excited that I've got an order for the Chanel 2.55. So was I. 10 hours of decorating, sleeping at 4.30am in the morning was quite worth it. Surprisingly the feedback was good from the birthday girl although I know there are a lot of improvements to be made, IF only I have another Chanel order. Haha...

This might sound like the Grammy Awards but I really want to thank friends for supporting operation TeaRoom. KG herself ordered a box of cupcake and didn't mind paying a premium for the decorations. Tony also ordered 2 boxes in a week, one of which was for his corporate client. I also have a customer who was more confident in me than me in delivering surprises in cake decorations. And Nick so far has ordered 2 cakes for his launch do and planning to order more. MFG has also been a real good "agent" for TeaRoom it makes me feel bad because I am not at all able to be his "agent" in promoting his business. :p

Baked some cupcakes just now for Saturday delivery and decided to take a break. Will continue decorations tomorrow. I am still planning to publish another post on my birthday present, yeah, just got another one from KG today, so cute!

And my own birthday present, cum reward for hard work... It was on sale :)

Hang in there...

It's only another two and a half hour time to go... LP told me the same just now, when it was 3 hours more to go.

I'm sooo... sleepy. I looked at myself just now in the toilet mirror and I do look like a zombie, no wonder I'm feeling very much like one.

Went to dinner with office mates last night and since I've just confirmed another box of cupcake order from Tony, I thought I'd better complete that box of cupcake due for collection tonight. So I slept at 1am. I've also just confirm another box of birthday cupcake for Friday. Okay... I've been planning to give something to the Friday birthday boy, but I was contemplating between BUYING a present and baking a box of cupcake. So it's destined. Cupcake it is.

Another alarming problem is my waistline. And of course the other parts also lah. I look rounder and blotted in the pictures I took last night. N.O.T. G.O.O.D!!! I guess I better plan in like early morning gym session since I won't be able to make it to gym these evenings. Next week is another extremely busy week! (and I don't mean at work, it's the cake biz).

There are still a few pictures and stories to tell about my birthday and birthday gifts. Hehe... yeah, still feel like talking about my birthday. Meanwhile, I've been spending more time in my TeaRoom blog than this one. Prioritizing business. Very tiring but it's very rewarding. The best reward among all is when you get positive feedback from the customers, very encouraging.

And for these few days, no internet connection at home due to modem malfunction - confirmed by TM's technicians after checking for 3 times. THEY BETTER BE RIGHT ABOUT THIS. Will get a new modem when BIL is back this Sunday. Yeah, BIL finally back from Australia this Sunday. Miss that kid.

And according to MC's last check up, IF the screen was showing all that it needed to show, I'm expecting a niece. :)

Change of lifestyle

I haven't been to the gym for a long time... I did go once last week on Saturday but only for an hour of "casual" workout. My last RPM and Pump class was about 2 weeks ago. Won't be able to go to gym this week because I've got deliveries on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. I'll try to drop in at gym during the weekend. Next week will be another busy week, I've got Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (Chanel handbag!!) and Friday. I've got MC and BIL's birthday celebration cake on Saturday.

And that's end of July already. Geezz... time flies.

I remember a few weeks back, I planned to resign in July, open TeaRoom in October. Hmm... I'm still with my full time job and looks like I'll be here for a while - hopefully not TOO long. I really long for a full time cafe and baking job and switch my current baking time back to gym/ hangout/ rest time. I used to go to gym 5 to 6 times a week for average of 2 classes every time. Now I don't even go to gym 5 times in a month sometimes.

I feel like I've aged a lot lately.

How I wish I have a job with working hours I can decide myself. A job that allows me to go around more perhaps, and meet more people. I find my current job too desk-bound. Good and bad of course - best about this is I can attend to emails, instant chats straight away, and perhaps slot in some paper work for TeaRoom. Worst of all is I am too bored with desk-bound.

I need a change.

Blur

Have I not blogged for so long? LGM asking me why no updates a few days ago. Okay, here's the excuse, I mean reason... I have been having this problem with my right eye... there was this persist redness and I couldn't wear my lenses. I have been wearing glasses for about a week, did not go to gym since last week and had this headache due to prolonged wearing of my glasses. I had visited the doctor two times and the advice was take a lot of rest, I've even got myself an MC last Wednesday, but too bad I still had to go to work in the morning...

The second time I went to the clinic, Doc gave me stronger medication. The result was I was a bit blur at times. Besides being mentally blur, my vision was also blur most of the time. You see, I've been wearing contact lenses since I was form 3 so I've not had blur vision unless I'm at home. The passed one week I've been walking in the office without glasses and images were blur. I took off my glasses during lunch and further things around me have been blur too. I even tried driving short distance (it was really really congested and I had a headache I couldn't stand) without glasses. It was a different experience - unsecured because I couldn't see clearly but at the same time felt relieved because it wasn't so scary after all going around even though I don't have a perfect eye sight.

The other thing was about wearing glasses itself.

Since I've not been wearing glasses, only close family members have been seeing me with my glasses. The first day I wore glasses and went out to the "public", I was a bit conscious, like worried that people might laugh at me wearing glasses, or I might look weird. Then after a while, I realized that no one actually noticed me wearing glasses. Haha... Sometimes we are so conscious and worried about certain things that it seems really silly because it's simply just such small matter that doesn't concern anyone else but yourself. And most of the time, we assume how and what other people think of us but all those assumptions often are wrong.

So... I'm back to lenses now, but need to try shorten the time of wearing lens.

Still feel like talking about my birthday celebrations...

Had such great birthday celebration this year... my latest celebration was the pizza birthday cake surprise. Hee... It was really fun!!

Surprisingly to me, MFG had dinner with me on my birthday, the actual day. Though he was not the one who'd organized, he had sent my skype instant message to ask me to dinner, and also text me to confirm time and place although the other organizer had asked and confirmed everything... though he was not the only one at the dinner, it's surprising enough for me that I even had him at dinner.

You know what I mean?

I remembering asking the girls when I was wondering out loud after my birthday eve dinner, whether if MFG had realized that I was requesting for a birthday present, and whether he would be getting me a present.

He did! Both of us arrived first and I thought I might as well open the present and find out how "cool" the mouse is. Even MFG commented when I was opening the present wrapper that "should be something expected right?". Well, yeah, but I want to see the selected "model".

I think guys will always go for function when you ask for "cool" stuff. To some of us girls, cool will normally be associated with the looks. Haha... so here it is the superlaser mouse with very cool function. MFG said he would have gotten me something more funky if he could find. Ohh... he remembered my "specifications". So something funky would have suit my personality is it? Hehe...

I later found out that the lights on the mouse actually changes colour from light blue to dark blue, to red, purple, green.... MFG's response to my text message on this "discovery" was "it's cool after all". Hee... yeah. Super cool!

And yes, I did get my birthday kiss and hug too.

Must also thank my colleague for initiating the dinner. Or... I actually don't know who initiated the dinner.

Surprise surprise!

Friday 8.15pm

While I was eating my piece of delicious homemade chicken pie, I saw some candle light movements outside, not long after that, the signing of birthday song. Hehe... oh, there it was, my birthday "surprise". I had later made my birthday wishes, the same ones for the third time this year (the wishes would just HAVE to come true, wouldn't they after so many times of wishing??), and blow the candle - which was supplied by myself - on the pizza. Haha... Aunt said since I bake cakes all the time, she gave me a pizza instead. So creative right?

Friday 7.00pm

I reached home early yesterday because I wanted to go to the clinic first. Besides, I really need to get on with my 2 deliveries for the next day. I arrived home and found that no one was having dinner, and amusingly, MC was making a chicken pie. Hmm... She hasn't really had the mood to cook lately (the lasagne sheets and tomato purees are still in the store cupboard by the way MC). And mum wasn't having dinner then, strangely, she said "you eat this vege first lah" - "first lah"... what's second? The chicken pie maybe. The pie was delicious by the way, just slight modifications to be done and it will be up the TeaRoom menu already.

I asked MC in the middle of my "first" dinner, "Is Alex coming over later?". And MC said "dunno wo"... Eh? So strange one? Hmm...

So I texted Alex "I think it's still on. DON'T tell them you told me"

Friday 6.30pm

Dr. Hooi said the redness of my eye was due to sensitivity. It must have been the late nights and lack of sleep... My blood pressure was a bit low too.

Friday 6.15pm

I was almost reaching home until I remember to return Alex's missed call. Told him I don't need him to get me the butter because I will be able to get them myself. Alex told me he's still at Jaya Jusco and if I couldn't get the butter at the grocery shop, I can still call him. He said he will be coming over later to have dinner at my house. We were going to have pizza. I was so hungry then and told him to come earlier since he said he was getting the pizza for me too.

Alex told me that I was going to get a birthday surprise, and the pizza was meant to be my "birthday cake" because I'm already good in baking, they wouldn't want to get me cakes from the shops outside. Oohh? Okay, and you guys were planning to stick a candle on the pizza? Alex said yes but they were still looking for candles. So I told him I do have a lot of candles and mei mei will know where the candles were.

But he said since the surprise is not on anymore, it doesn't matter that he told me.

See? See why it was strange for me when MC said she doesn't know whether Alex was coming over? Hahaha... No, MC doesn't know I know until this very minute, until she reads this. Surprise!! Hee...

Friday about 5pm or so

Skype message from TTB to MC "I'm coming back early, need to go see Dr Hooi to get something for my eye"

Thursday 9.30pm

Text message from MC to TTB "R u going to the gym tomorrow"

TTB said "no, tomorrow yoga at office"

Received MC's message saying "she will be back about 8pm lo"

Eh? Who, me?

Then another message from MC asking me to ignore that earlier message.

Oooookay.

White Lilies

White lilies from Tony. My favorite flower. Aren't they beautiful?

The flowers arrived at my office the day before my birthday.

My room smells really good now with the flowers around. :)
Thanks darling!

My birthday eve celebration

This is the first time I receive a homemade birthday cake from a friend. Looks like The Baker has gotten her a personal baker too.

Tiramisu cake with sponge finder, coffee liqueur and deliciously mascarpone cheese filling. I've self declared to be the agent for this cake if you want to order from my baker. ^_^

Thanks Swee for baking this lovely and delicous cake! love it so much and it really made my birthday very very special.

Also thanks to LGM and LP for their company during dinner. Here's what we had at Frames, TTDI Plaza on my birthday eve...

Starters for the girls.

Mine, some sandwich with mushroom and melted cheese. A bit sour I thought.

LGM's house chicken, my original plan, a bit less tasty I'd to say.

LP's pasta, carbonara... not that great? I didn't try since there was beef bacon in it.

Swee's salad which was practically drenched in dressing. Too sweet for her too... (I think it as quite sour also)

Ended dinner with this delicious birthday indulgence. Don't know how the girls did it, but this was brought out by surprise to the birthday gal! The people in that restaurant just couldn't wait for us to leave, could they? Haha...

Still Alive!

Yes! I Survived!!

No, Swee I didn't stick my face onto the cake, I was really falling asleep on Friday night, but deliveries are promises I can never break! Blog Ed aka LGM also text to check if I was still breathing. I was in bed ready to recharge when I got your message, luckily I get to reply that before I went unconscious. Haha...

Yeah, it was rather hectic last week. Baked all in all about 8 cakes although these only turned into 3 deliveries. Slept at 1 o'clock in the morning on Tuesday and Wednesday. 3 o'clock on Thursday and 4 o'clock in the morning after Friday night.

Delivered the wedding present cake on Friday, and wedding cake at 11am on Saturday and the birthday cake 4.30pm the same day. Went to Gardens for my Transformers show - IT WAS AWESOME!!! I kept having this jaw dropped expression on my face if you could see me then. Simply amazing! Love the transforming... I can watch this over and over again.

After the show, dropped by an opening of new shop invitation. But we were rather late, so no more food. Have "sold" the idea of a live size camera cake. I can't wait for that project to take place!

Though I've slept for more than 10 hours, I still need to recharge a bit more. So off I go...

TTB told MFG last Wednesday: If you want to get me something, I want a mouse.

MFG was speechless until TTB said: something that suits my image. A cool mouse!

MFG: ohh... not the hamster, guinea pig - mouse ya?

Of course not lah, the one you use for computers :)

Taking a break... soon

Took half day leave on Wednesday to sign some agreements. If not because I've taken leave on Wednesday, I would have taken leave today (Friday) I've got that 2 orders to deliver tomorrow and they are not even half way. Slotted in MFG's order on Wednesday, which is okay for usual schedule but is in fact quite last minute for busy schedule like this. (Oh, how I wish I'm full time baking, then there will be no such problems).

Got a FB message from Peck Yin yesterday asking for my number, in fact, Wookie told me yesterday evening that someone looking for my number because he wants to order cake. The person, I refer to as the-one-who-got-thrown-into-the-pool at one of SC's farewell parties. If I'm not mistaken the second farewell party. He wanted to order a cake for this Saturday (tomorrow). Arghh... I would LOVE to take that order, but sorry! I'm really not able to. Hopefully he who got thrown into the pool will organize a party again soon. AND order a cake from me.

I just got another sms, from my insurance agent asking if it's too late to order a cake for tomorrow. TOMORROW?! Sigh... sorry dear, yes it is a bit too late. She said it's for grand opening of 100 yen shop! Arghh!! Why do I have to miss this? sigh...

Tony MSN-ed me yesterday saying he wants to order cupcake, I was so phobia that he will say it's for 4th July! Okay, it's not, it's for 22 July. Phew... I've got 2 orders for 11 July (Hopefully nothing earlier otherwise I would have to "work" on my birthday). 14 July is also confirmed I think. I better check with gym if the body mind and soul cake is soon, I don't want to be turning down that cake!

Blogging during office hour? Of course, I don't even have time to sleep, so won't hear from me at home. Slept at 3.30am yesterday, I mean this morning, I hope I can go to bed before 2am tonight.

Finger crossed that I don't fall asleep and stick my face onto the cakes!

Please visit TeaRoom blog for cake updates!
