HP Forum (believe me, no spoiler, it's just my blog title)

Since I've finished reading my HP, I entitled myself to all these little forums discussing about the story and plot. There are a few things which we find, commonly, puzzle us... so I tried to search for some answers on the web, and amazingly found a lot in Wikipedia. Later the day, master chef and her hubby joint in the forum since it's waking up time in UK, and my bro in law was actually checking back the book for answers... haha... this is getting to be like HP exam like that. Many of us were so inspired that we decided to start reading from book 1 all over again, we are sure that we will discover things which we didn't take notice the last time (or times) and be thrilled all over again.

It's 40 minutes to combat class and I'm still in the office, but no matter since The Curve is so near... actually, I've decided 5 minutes ago that I will drop combat today... I was thinking this aloud just now and my boss said "how do you want to do combat with your sore throat?!" Erm... okay, why I cannot do combat with sore throat? Because I cannot shout is it? Humphh... but my point is didn't I just said I decided to drop combat ah? Nevertheless, I will not want to miss pump, especially when I'm most probably going to miss Thursday pump at MML for a meeting-up arrangement at The Curve instead; AND for sure I won't be able to make it to the Saturday pump due to some volunteer work thingy throughout the whole weekend.

Ok, but anyways, the reason why I plan to give up combat is of course not just because I've got sore throat lah, I'm sure one less shouting from me is not going to make any difference. I'm not feeling so fit since the weekend, told Carebear on MSN just now that I hope I won't faint in pump later. I think too much of Panadol and Clarinase during the weekend and I don't really like to eat a lot of meat and stuff alike. So, just in case the combat class turn out to be a madness-non-stop-torturing-class like last Monday (ya, don't know what got into the combat master that night), which requires full stamina and energy, I better not risk fainting in combat (it's going to be dangerous right? with people still kicking and stuff). That's why better give up the class for today, can always join one tomorrow.

Meanwhile, just discussed with MB about a potential surprise birthday do... oh don't worry, that person doesn't read my blog... or does he/ she?

Jinx

Certain things are jinxed... (no, I'm not talking about Harry Potter). Really, have you ever heard that if you talk about certain things, that certain thing in question will turn out to be a failure? Don't know what I'm talking about right... for example, mum always keep her wine making very low profile, she said not to mention it otherwise it will not turn into wine properly; I've even heard that we are not suppose to give compliment to how well a cake is rising in the oven or else the cake will turn out sunken (not true lah, but no harm taking extra precautions, haha); I've also found out lately that there are some other things which cannot be mentioned if I want it to happen... ok, I'm a bit confused with the structure and grammar of my sentences also here... how shall I put this?

One of my girlfriends, who has recently became one of my regular readers (thank you!), asked me how come I've not mentioned the "special someone" in my blog ever. The reason is I cannot mention anything about it, not only in my blog, but I cannot mention it AT ALL! You've gotta believe me... like the other time when we were supposed to meet up, I've only just casually mentioned that in my sms and we didn't get to meet because he met with a car accident (oh, he was ok, not a serious one, but it took him some time to lodge a police report etc and he had to get to work after that, so had to cancel meeting me); During another occasion, he was supposed to drop by my office to pick up some pudding, and due to me and my big mouth, I've sort of told my boss about it. Well, he couldn't come because he wasn't feeling quite well that morning; Recently, we've planned to join a combat class together, but soon as I've told Fiz about it, I found out that Master C wasn't going to teach that weekend, so we didn't go... That's why, I'm keeping this 200% secret from now on, sorry gals.

Anyways... you won't be interested in that sort of topic after all right?

Right... I had a great time at gym today with my cousin sister, who's a first timer to the gym (I can only bring her to gym now cuz she only just turned 16 this year). To here, everything were just so amazing, she even grew quite fond of the cross trainer, goshh... We joined body jam, the instructor was not so bad, not quite diva like those instructors whose class I used to join, but it was interesting enough. Only I hate that last block, you know those newer release, those performance choreo. I just got bored after too many repetition. Surprisingly, as a first timer, my cousin did very well, she managed to follow all instructions and performed all the moves.

Body jam was followed by combat, as the opening, this was what the instructor said:

"C------ is not here today, I don't know what happened to him but he called me last minute to replace this class. My name is Nic---, nice to meet you all...."

Ok, did I sensed that he wasn't so pleased with the last minute arrangement or what? Anyways, my cuz and me did the warm up track together, and she went out to refill our water bottle, came back to do track 3 with me and she decided to discontinue with the class. Firstly, she found that the studio was too stuffy, secondly, she didn't really like combat. Ok... so I left soon after that as, can't just leave her waiting right? We went to explore almost all the machines, try out a few and headed to the steam bath and shower. After gym was some light shopping (didn't manage to buy anything except for my gummy bears replenishment) and afternoon tea at Secret Recipe.

Feedback from my cousin was she didn't really max out on exercising but didn't feel comfortable with her breathing, so, the plan is to bring her to another set of classes with other instructors, and see whether she feel otherwise; for me, I wasn't feeling quite well since Friday, like I'm gonna fall sick. With this not so top condition, I didn't really push myself at gym today. Besides, body jam is not my favorite class after all.

Ok, going to send my cousin home. There goes the weekend, in a blink.

Caramel Mudcake Cupcake

I've got an apprentice this weekend... My cousin is over to stay for the weekend and I'm bringing her to try out the gym at LM tomorrow. She's really excited about it. But too bad I heard that our dear combat master will not be teaching tomorrow.

Caramel has always been my cousin's favorite, she always order Caramel Frappucino or the Caramel Ice Blended when we go Starbucks or Coffee Bean... So the sound of caramel cupcake made her went all enthusiastic to learn how to make them.

This is a very simple recipe I got from the internet, no need to use electric mixer, only need to combine all the ingredients, this case, she can easily bake on her own at home.

Lynnx - that box on top is reserved for you for food tasting purpose. ;)

Finished reading Harry Potter!

I FINISHED THE BOOK!!!

I was left with 200 pages last night. Left office after work without further delay and I didn't even go to gym. Finally, finished reading it at about 2.30am... hmm... the book is good, like everyone said (don't worry, no spoiler, read on...) it's the best one among all 7 installments. You will find that many things which didn't sound important, which you didn't pay much attention to, will appear to be something quite significant in the last book - good plot! I think there will be "forum" soon to discuss on the book, but in separate emails not in here lah.

Went for my usual pump at LM before my cousin came over. Hobbes kept telling us before each track that it's an easy track, so try to load up (well, except for back track, he warned) BUT, no one can quite agree - they are all tough tracks! Nevertheless, I love the bicep (Pump It) and abs (Shake Your Tail Feather) tracks. Did my usual weights except for the back track (7kg instead of 7.5kg, hey, it makes a different lah) because of Hobbes' warning towards that track. At the end of the class, I felt a bit sick and dizzy, on this remarks Hobbes also said I looked quite pale.

Came back, told my cousin that we'll delay the cupcake making to after dinner so I can take a nap. Taking a nap after a pump class is just heaven! One of the best indulgences.

Hey Guys!

Hah! I’ve finally finished reading it! Though it took a while since I had to wrestle it from hubby and in between weddings, visit to hospital (my nephew contracted the HFM virus), swollen tonsil and runny nose, and cake frosting. I must say it’s a very good book, better than Prisoner of Azkaban! JK Rowling really did explain everything!

Nazrul started late, I was already at chapter 21 when he ‘borrowed’ my book, but then on Tuesday night after I fell asleep knocked out from Actifed, he ended up finishing the book. He didn’t sleep at all the whole night, and finished at about 6.30am. Dahsyat tak? So last night after I’ve finished, we discussed about the plots, characters and some facts that have been forgotten. Macam forum pulak… So cepat la finish….

Regards,

xxx

OK OK!!! I'm trying, REALLY trying hard k... I only managed two and a half chapter last night... left office late, traffic was bad due to rain, had dinner and accompanied mum a while (I see her less than 2 hours a day, can you believe it?), shower... by the time I started with my reading, it was already 11pm... I couldn't even hold up my eye lid after an hour! I will definately finish the book before end of the week, I will actually not sleep until I finish the book this Friday night.

Farid also told me last night that she actually finished the book on Sunday (you do know I'm talking about Harry Potter here don't you?)

... and I'm only at page 231... that must be like below chapter 20! I must try to catch up, not trying to make this a reading competition, but the later I finish, the higher the risk of someone accidently telling me the ending (or parts I've not read)!

Anyways, going off now, not going to do anything other than read my book at home tonight.

By the way, all chocolate mousse for the office finished, not enough actually... need to double production the next time...

Dark Chocolate Mousse

I needed something for my boss... Since I needed to bake the birthday cake, AND I really need to get on with Harry Potter (and I need to make this quick so I can go back to the book, I'm only at page 127, extremely behind everyone else), so, I decided the only thing I can manage would be the chocolate mousse which doesn't require baking.
In short, a very healthy (completely sugar free, except for those from the dark chocolate, and it's 70% dark chocolate, how much sugar can there be?) and high in "spirit" little indulgence.
Limited edition though...

Decorated with brandy cream and mint stick (which I need to replenish, all gone already.)

Happy Birthday Little Bro

I woke up really puffy eyed on Saturday... yes I stayed up quite late, but I still managed my 8 hours of sleep, perhaps drank too much water just before bed.

There was supposed to be a "well planned" surprise party for little brother... The making of this surprise was about a week ago... too bad the gymfreaks couldn't make it, at the end, the so called surprise party squad only consist of Farid, Elaine and me... my co-producer, Hobbes, was late due to bad traffic that day... The squat members got sort of too engrossed with our newly bought Harry Potter, so nearly missed delivering the surprise on time... Honestly, our timing was really a bit off... Bro was already outside the studio when I rush over with the cake, managing badly with the candle which went off as quick as it's being lid by Elaine. Also, due to limited number of the choir member, the birthday song was not impressive enough, though little bro tried to hush us, what was there to hush ah bro? But we sort of got "help" for the second round of birthday song, and that was slightly better.

Riyo and CareBear sort of joint us for a while during the cake cutting and a totally frustrated co-producer joint us after the cake cutting...

A few other members whose name I've forgotten, (so sorry!) joint the "celebration" and we managed to take a few snaps before the girls continue with combat. Thanks a lot gals for missing a few tracks for this...

Farid got the birthday boy some really cute party balloons and a huge lollipop.

Some hazelnut syrup for the icing and chocolate mint stick to decorate... by the way bro, this is the choc mint stick if you want to buy, I got this from Cold Storage at Ikano.

Happy birthday little brother (actual birthday on 24 July) and I hope you like the cake. I think we can do this better next year ;)

May all your dreams come true and many many happy returns!

My Favorite Friday

I definitely want to have 3 pump slot weekly in my gym schedule...

I'm like MML regular this week... having said that, I still feel like an alien walking into the gym because of people giving me curious looks (should have gotten used to my face by my third time there this week). Joint pump after my walking with office mate yesterday... the class was great, familiar old tracks, I rephrase, good old torturing tracks. I've not done pump with this instructor so many times, but I did find his class very motivating and most importantly not boring. Suddenly while waiting for class to start, the instructor told me he's not seen me for a long time... hmmm... I was there the week before (my second class there) or unless he meant that very one time I did his class "accidentally" at LM (was supposed to be Hobbes' class, but he replaced, so since Hobbes didn't inform, I was there all ready for the class). Then, I decided that he must have been talking to the guy behind of me instead. Anyways...I do need to get used to his accent, with lots of cheese along the line - "stand tall and proud cheese" and I thought I hear "lie down on the binch and aim the bar to your cheese". Another thing to get used to is not overdo my shouting, I mean, erm... what's the word to use? As Maxis Buddy always says "moaning" haha... the class was too quiet, in fact, I felt that it was quieter the week before. Really not used to quiet class, I mean, that was not yoga class you know.

My original plan was to come back early to bake, but I went to pump at MML again today and that's mainly because favorite instructor was replacing the class... Also, if I've done my pump today, I don't have to worry about joining a pump class tomorrow (tomorrow very busy). Nevertheless, I skeptically told favorite instructor in MSN the night before about my plan of joining his class, you know, busy work days lately sigh...

SURPRISINGLY today was the best Friday I've had so far hehe... many tasks were completed early the day, decisions were made by boss quickly without much hiccups AND towards the late afternoon, a parcel arrived from the States which distracted my boss totally from giving us more work, haha - his iPhone arrived!!! Goshh... you guys would really have to see it, it's SO COOL!!! Sorry, I'm not good in description of gadgets, so won't be able to tell you exactly why it's cool, but I'm sure you know, THE iPhone which was lately launched in US, with people lining up overnight to purchase the phone on the first day of sale, it was in the news and all.

SO, I managed to leave the office early, but having said that, it was a bit of a rush too considering the class was at 6.45pm. Managed to register for the class ok, but I went into class late (should be a few minutes earlier, but I forgot my bandanna and went back in to get it - I need a hair cut!). To my relief, there was still a spot, and I'd to say, a good spot, left in the class, and while I was busy setting up my weights, the 5kgs for the warm up, a familiar face came over, passing me two 2.5kgs and two donuts, THANKS! Such a nice guy, but sorry, I didn't get your name. So I only need to quickly run to get another two 2.5kg... OK, forget about doing 11kg for squat today lah, too troublesome to get another two 5kgs. This nice guy told me he'd always seen me at The Curve on Mondays doing Carebear's pump, but he was at the other side of the room, so I must have missed seeing him... hmmm... actually that's true, so sorry... but wait, I thought I would put that face to "combater"...? Ya, I think Tuesday combat at MML, I must have seen him when I used to do that Tuesday combat. I spotted many bloggers also in that class, must be a very popular class, even fav instructor said he'd heard so much about that class... NOW, today was extremely different from yesterday's class. So happening, not sure if it was because of our darling instructor or the crowd was simply the best crowd. Almost everyone around me were using super heavy weights (and yet that guy said I use such heavy weights...?) and no need to worry about me overdoing my shouting, my shout, scream, moan whatever you call it, were all drown by first the really loud music and other people shouting. Great!

As usual, when come bicep track, Her Majesty our Drama Queen, oppss... sorry, I mean His Majesty :p, will delivery that track with his ever so seducing way - that track will simply become a sexy body jam track for him. Not only his own performance way of conducting that track, members around him got seduced as well, so the class, guys, girls, happy men alike, got really "hot", and erm... what pain? The track was over...

Some new way of giving instruction from fav instructor today (for shoulder track, push up):
- Ladies, on your knees (ya, ya...)
- Gays, on your toes (huh? where did this come from??)
- Guys (real one he meant), on one leg! (huuuuuh?)

By his definition, he was one real macho guy, doing his push up, balacing on only one leg (you got to be kidding me darling!) and by his defination again, since I was doing mine on toes, I had became a very happy one during push up. :D

I've also got acquaintance with this really nice lady in the locker room, we were sort of maneuvering around each other because our lockers were next to each other. We even did a friendly good bye when I left... hmmm... members at MML are just so friendly I found. Anyways, I had to rush back to bake... But like I said, i should really be doing 3 pump classes a week for better strength - I could now manage my 6kgs for chest track properly.

Tomorrow is collection of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows... I won't be queuing at 7am in the morning though. Anyways, for those who had not revised HP 6, or cannot manage to finish, here are some recaps and things you might want to expect:

1) It's the last year of school for Harry and friends, but at the end of the book, the school was missing the headmaster and by the sound of it Harry didn't seem to be planning to go back to school;

2) Harry and Ginny were already dating each other, though Harry did want to break up with her for her safety sake;

3) Professor Dumbledore was killed by Severus Snape... I personally don't think Snape really want to kill Dumbledore, I think Dumbledore must have predicted that day and made Snape promise to "kill" him when time comes, that's why, as Harry had discribed, Dumbledore was "pleading" Snape;

4) There are still 4 Horcruxes left... the last horcrux which Dumbledore had sacrified his life for, was a fake, and who the hell is R.A.B? (the signed off in the note inside this fake horcrux)

5) Bill and phelgm, opss.. I mean Fluer, were, will be, getting married (and Bill might turn into warewolf);

6) Yes, the school was missing the teacher for Defence Against Dark Arts again (Snape ran away with Draco remember?)

7) Which team won Quidditch by the way? I don't remember, did they get to the final?

8) The Weasley twins were already successful business men.

You know, I still think Snape is not a bad guy, I think he's the good guy spying for Dumbledore. I think it will be quote a touching scene when it comes to the unveiling of the truth about Snape.

Who's going to die? Logically the bad guy will be defeated at the end right? Some of my friends said both will die - hey, isn't, wasn't, this supposed to be a "children" book? I've ordered my copy of HP, adult cover.

Almost Managing...

What an achievement! I managed to have dinner with mum tonight... though she already started eating (she was too hungry...) still, considered I had dinner with mum.

Actually, despite being so busy lately (actually since started with new job) I've surprised myself for achieving a few things:
  1. Managed to have dinner with mum on both Saturday AND Sunday (I normally don't go gym on Wednesday, so that's dinner day with mum too, but lately it's all working late and bad traffic, so today was an achievement)
  2. Managed to slot in a karaoke session (not been to karaoke for years, can still sing, phew...) with my bosses and our guests, had a great time surprisingly although need to drive out at 10.30pm when I needed sleep most.
  3. Managed to advance many more pages of my novel (need to finish this book so I can start with HP this Saturday!)
  4. Managed to bring my cousin to watch Harry Potter last Saturday, after which we've successfully rushed for our 1 hour 45 minutes of squash (with mum as well, so we didn't really played 1 hour 45 minutes non stop)
  5. Managed to join favorite instructor's pump, had a great time, the class was "seducing" as ever, very entertaining and before I know the torturing and crazy tracks are over. But seriously darling, 3.5kg for triceps? You're gonna be kidding!
  6. Managed to catch up with sms buddy (which was the biggest achievement, I'm not naming him sms buddy for no reason, we normally only manage to sms and no meeting up). After which we continued with more sms, it just had to be this way, goshh...
  7. Managed to organize Esther's birthday present plus the delivery of it.

Well, that's about it, but is quite a lot for me considering how little time there is in a day haha... and of course also managed to catch up with FO and SWC last night for a great session.

I've yet to:

  • Get Meen's birthday present;
  • Send Zed the CD;
  • Watch a DVD which I've borrowed for a long time;
  • Send the music instrument I plan to donate to my high school Chinese Orchestra;
  • Replace my malfunction streamyx modem;
  • Organize pictures of my China trip (more than one year already, this is really bad, Master Chef, can you take over when you come back?)
  • Dinner with my former COO; (I promised to buy him dinner 2 months ago! This is really bad)
  • Many many sms/e-mails which I'm suppose to send/ reply...

Erm... I think the list goes on, oh... this is really bad... on top of all these, I'm not able to catch up with my beauty sleep.

I really feel that time passes too quickly lately... I'm sure that's because I've been really busy lately. Nevertheless, time flies... my sister is going to be back 19th next month, she'd been away for 11years, plus the 2 years when I was away, it had been 13 years since we lived together. I sometimes cannot believe how 13 years can just flew passed in a blink (well, not literally, but you know...).

Whether time flies or whether it is at a crawl, is all our perception, whenever you feel tortured by how sloooooow the clock ticks, just relax, enjoy the moments, indulge in happy memories, and it will be over before you know.

Now... need to reserve more time for sleep.

A Session of Catching Up (i.e. Gossiping)

I need to change my gym schedule...

I've tried joining step on Tuesdays at The Curve, I love step, especially free-style step, but that class is at 8.30pm and with little bro being SO generous, the class is often more than an hour. I like my current Monday schedule - combat + pump so don't feel like changing that... Though I found that Monday workout would drain almost all my energy, which I think is because I've lately started with playing squash on Sunday. In conclusion, Tuesdays have to be light workout only, if I want to workout at all, since I will be working out on Saturday, Sunday and Monday... anyways... my original plan of resting on Tuesdays might not work (so I'm sticking to light cardio on Tuesdays) because I found out today that Tuesday will be a good day to catch up with Shen when she gyms at MML, like today... in fact, Farid was there too... Had a good gossip session, some catching up and thank you Kak Nini and Shen for the presents (love the light-blue-rather-sexy-size 8-top and the cookies recipe book). We all agreed that Umbridge in the latest Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix strongly resembles my devil ex-boss.

Almond biscotti sounds like a good idea...

Anyways... talking about Harry Potter... (stop reading here if you've not seen it and don't' want to know) got a few sms from MasterChef already even before I went to watch the movie, the review was the movie is great and very impressive... so, I really felt that due to those reviews, I had a rather high expectation, therefore, felt a bit disappointed that the movie was just "ok". It's definitely better than the previous episode - more magical (yes, I had to agree), a few new casts which fit aptly for the various characters and better effects. I felt that, however, the movie lacking some really "wow" factor. One thing that touched me most was the appearance of Serius Black, the moment I saw that character, my eyes just couldn't help but well up with tears because I knew he's going to die at the end of the story. Harry Potter was not as annoying as in the book (he was just so bad tempered and reckless in the book); If I remember correctly (lazy to go dig out the book to "research" on this) the one who reported the DA was not Cho Chang, but another kid name erm... Z something... because Hermione had a spell that did something to the person who betrayed the club; I remember the twins causing more havoc than those shown in the movie; They didn't even show the mirror Serius gave Harry as a present, that really made me cry when I read the book...

Now... Harry Potter finale to look forward to, everyone said they planned to stay in so they can gobble up the book in one go... and some people are that kiasu - planning to collect the book at 7.01am this Saturday... well, I'm just gonna wake up as usual and so what if I'm one or two chapter behind... haha...

Secretly, I'm actually very worried - Would I have enough time to read the book given how busy work is lately??!! Arghhhh........

xxx

Presents

The four-leaf clover is an uncommon variation of the common three-leaf clover. According to tradition, such leaves bring good luck to their finders, especially if found accidentally. Clovers can have more than four leaflets. The most leaflets ever recorded is eighteen. It has been estimated that there are approximately 10,000 three-leaf clovers for every four-leaf clover.

According to legend, each leaflet represents something: the first is for hope, the second is for faith, the third is for love, and the fourth is for luck.

Got this as a present from my cousin last week... and I've since felt luckier... haha...

I also got a feathered "magic wand" from Farid together with a novel, great present! Thanks a lot Farid! I wonder how powerful is four leave clover coupled with a magic wand? ;)

"Dear Sister,
So mant times in life,
when I think about the people
who are the closest to me,
I think about you
because you are one of the best friends
I could have in this world.

Whenever I need advice
or a friendly shoulder to lean on,
I know I can always turn to you...

You have always been there for me -
not only as a caring sister,
but also as a loving friend."

So Close To Death

Friday 13, 2007

I always call it a good Friday, when I used to be in sales, I will always try to drop by at the cemetary to drop my grandparents some flowers... but I guess to many others, it was a black Friday, to some it was their last Friday...

It has been real madness at work this week, deadlines and more deadlines; episode after episode... Finally, Friday was the day when we were supposed to present to our guests, the first presentation was as early as 9.30am. Which meant I had to get into office early, leaving some buffer for unexpected traffic congestion.

I left the house before 7.30am, drove two streets down the road and I noticed someone lying in the middle of the road, stomach down, blood drained face to the side, facing my direction. My first reaction was actually lifting my hand to cover my jaw dropped mouth, no joke, we always see characters in movies covering their mouth when there were in shock, that was exactly what I did without realizing why. I was all goosebumps and hair standing. It was a boy, a kid maximum early twenties, one of his shoes fell off him, my first impression was car accident, someone knocked him down?! Hit and run?! No... he fell off a motorbike perhaps? There was a lady at the side of the road indicating for me to drive through via the side of the road, making sure I did not run over the body, yes, it was a dead body! When I carefully drove passed, I notice blood stained on his still neatly tugged shirt, at his belly area, and while I turned to focus back on the road, I was driving passed a pool of dried blood. What happened??

I tried to make some quick decisions... I simply cannot be late to work that day because the presentation slides was in my laptop, sounded so cruel, I know, mum told me later that night that I should have stopped to render some help... a few more people rushed to the scene, I noticed. Ok, I gave myself a quick check, goshh... I was in total shock, can I even handle another glimpse of the body? I made a decision to leave the scene while tried very very hard to channel all my effort to continuous chanting, the least I can do?

I've managed to call mum later during my lunch break, told her about the incident and she said she had heard, she said the road was blocked and I told her when I passed, the police had not even arrived. Mum said it happened at about 7.30 in the morning! The kid lived just the next street, he was on his way back from work, night shift must have been, a few Indians mugged him and wanted to rob him since he was spotted with a pouch at his waist. He resisted and got stabbed three times, it was of course, fatal. At the end he dropped dead in the middle of the road, receiving no help at the time when he needed most. The murder case was on headlines today, saying he tried to stop these guys from stealing a car and got stabbed instead. Gosh... sometimes news can be so inaccurate, or was the neighbourhood the ones giving inaccurate information?

His mother, didn't get to see his son home that morning, my mum heard that the mother, in total shock was paralyzed at the scene for a long long time. I could imagine...

I've never before imagined being so close to death... my grandmother passed away a few years ago and it was hard but expected of older people. It was really hard for my heart to settle down after witnessing a kid's body, abandoned on the road being so so so close to his home. He could have been asleep, in bed, safe instead of being helplessly laid in the middle of the road!

Of course this bothers me a lot, it bothers the whole neighbourhood a lot too as everyone thought how so unsafe it is near our homes, rob and murder during broad daylight!

Guys/ gals... be extra careful with how you carry your bags, mugging now a days doesn't come as straight forward as we have thought, it's not just about snatching and run, robbers now a days are into hurting and killing. You might think you will get away with it if you voluntarily give up your valuebles, but consider youself really lucky if you only got snatched.

Be very very careful and take real good care of yourselves. May you be protected by your guardian angel all the time...

Old Fashion Chocolate Cake

Old fashion chocolate cake because this is a recipe that uses cocoa powder and not dark chocolate. I think during the older days, chocolate cakes are baked with cocoa powder, or like my mum used to, Milo. There are loads of recipes, like melt-in-your-mouth chocolate cakes which uses chocolate instead of cocoa powder, which I am sure will taste superb, but I've yet to try any of those recipes... maybe one day. As for this weekend, I baked the same old recipe - one which was given to me by one of my high school classmate (I still remember her name!) and have since been baking this version of chocolate cake - erm... for the passed 15 years. Gosh... I'm that old already.

Anyways, the original recipe didn't come with the chocolate icing... it was not a trend to have icing like that for homemade cakes. I've sort of improvised and came out with something made of Cadbury milk chocolate.

I gone a bit crazy last Friday and got myself so much of chocolates! Wanted to use them to decorate the cake, but found that only one of the items gave the best result - Chocolate Mint Sticks.

So, after "packaging" the cakes looked like this...

Where did time go?

Another week just flew passed. Really felt that I've not been having enough time lately. I used to think that I couldn't manage a office based job, always loved the sales job when most of my time were spent out, won't be bored staying at office, trying to kill time, waiting to go back. I now have a really different perception towards full time office based job - if you get one that's busy enough, time flies and it can be as enjoyable. In fact, I have been lately wishing that there are more hours in a day. I just didn't have enough time, like this week for instance, I've only manage to go to one pump class... it's always all plans but fail in action. Yesterday was so typical, I had everything nicely planned, work done, only need to finalize a few very minor, can't possibly take a lot of time items to discuss with my boss before I head to gym, then suddenly everyone wanted to see my boss too, and there was a little drama which didn't help with me sticking with my gym plans...

One of my new colleagues (one week with the company) broke into tears while talking to my boss about her earlier episode - she presented to the management and got some major "told off" by the big boss... I'm not sure if that's the case, my big boss is just loud and direct, but not unreasonable, and my first presentation was a disaster too! The whole thing was just unacceptable... but we will get round it, just need to do better and learn to gauge the standards and requirement right? But really, it was (is) really tough, very stressful. However, this is nothing like what I had to go through with my ex boss whom I always refer to as "The Devil" - she was really bad, very unreasonable, liked to pick on me, had a very irritating voice, and worse of all, she didn't know what she was talking about most of the time and that would most probably be because she didn't know her job, at all. Now, my current boss, he can well give all the remarks he likes however way he wants because he can afford to do so - he knows the company really well. Nevertheless, I think it's going to be really worth while at the end of the day... I shouldn't think one should get that upset with his remarks...

sms from auntie: Can I order 35 cupcakes form you ah? Need before sun.

Ok, I was originally not in favour of baking 2 chocolate cakes, now it's confirm that there's no way I'm gonna be baking 2 choc cakes and 35 cupcakes...

... the next sms reads: Actually I want 40, 5 wt lots of raisins and icing, the rest plain.

So, no way I'm gonna be baking 2 choc cakes and 40 cupcakes - 42 because mum wanted 2 to give to a neighbour. And since I'm in need to "sweetened" up the atmosphere in the office, I would need to bring in the chocolate moments... and since the other half of the cake has been booked by sms buddy - food tasters, I'm so sorry, next round k...

Went to gym today soon after I was out from bed... found myself yawning all time at gym when I did my free weights. I was also sniffing and achoo-ing towards the end when I did my 20 minutes stepper (the weather has been really bad lately and I forgot to take my Clarinase before going to gym). Anyways, the stepper said I did some 90 over floors at the end of my 20 minutes... hmmm... sounds ridiculous, how did the machine tabulate that info I wonder...

Had tea with my girlfriend at Secret Recipe near Sungai Long (convenient, not crowded, no need to go to town)... loads of gossips but we were heavily interrupted by her little boy, who wanted to go home soon after we ordered. His daddy had to come fetch him while my girlfriend and me continue with some "light" shopping around the area. Oh, thanks for the treat girlfriend!

Not sure what is this flower called in English... it will blossom only once and always at night. Not sure how it know the time, but the flower will blossom slowly late night and fully blossomed at midnight. It has really great smell and they said each of these flowers has a flower fairy inside... if we make a wish, they will help us make our wish come true... just like the fairy tales.

Short Stories

Monday 2 July

Missed combat, too much work to do but luckily was still on time for pump. I hate missing my regular pump classes because the strength will just go backwards... The Monday combat was as usual crowded, now that I'm not actually in the class, I could actually observe the combat master's moves clearly (you can't when you are drenched in sweat and suffering in class)... the conditioning track for the new combat is really great! (that means it's torturing enough) and the master did it so well - every stretch was really controlled and full of strength. Hmm... but Farid was not there, still in Singapore? No one could give me any answer then...

"What happened to my usual Monday crowd??!!" That was how Swee's opening sounded... the class did seem a bit empty... not empty, empty, but no-need-to-squeeze-into-class type empty... I went through the class with less difficulties compare with the last one since I diligently did 2 pump classes the week before (which reminds me, I'm still pending another pump class which I still haven't a clue where to plan in - Hobbes not teaching this Sat, most probably won't join my usual pump class. Maxis Buddy: If you are reading this, are you doing pump at Maxis this Sat?) - by the way I love the new lunges track, really effective (quite torturing enough)!

Anyways, did my chest track in a total mess, missed a lot of moves due to delayed cuing (It was not Swee, was the instructor-in-making who was shadowing... ) I personally felt that the to-be-instructor was not quite there... Bumped into Swee on my way out and I went "not teaching Balance meh?" She said there were not enough members - only one lady... and finally, she concluded that "it's all Wookie's (of course she didn't use this name, your real name) fault!" Which I can't agree less... haha...

Tuesday 3 July

Was extremely busy as I've storied. Presentation slides are just so time consuming, not to mention boss wanted the animation and sound effects... Was supposed to go dinner with my ex boss and one of my former manager but it was cancelled (again!). Actually, I felt blessed later that the dinner was cancelled because I really couldn't have left the office for the dinner... left the office only at 9pm...

Wednesday 4 July
Came back earlier for once, which was about 7.30pm (it's considered very early for me now a days), off day from gym. Originally planned to come back and read my new book, but only managed to read 3 pages, it was passed midnight already... where did the time go? Can't seem to be able to catch up with time lately.

Thursday 5 July

the baker: Yay! D audience liked d presentation slides n even my director said it was quite gud. Phew... u r rite, things ll get easier once i settled down. :)

sms buddy: then u can rest early ;)

the baker: blah blah blah (don't expect me to be able to remember the text word by word right, so just roughly lah, simply story telling anyways...) baking choc cake tis weekend... miss choc cake? ;)

sms buddy: can lah, but need t b on diet soon. well, just do more weights lo ;)

the baker: ok, 2 small pieces lah then... there r many requests so might not b enuf.

sms buddy: 2 slices ar? which part of my stomach t put? It's ok lah then, nxt time you bake me a 10kg one... hehe

the baker: where got 10kg cake one? :D (not something my little kitchen can produce anyways) I can always bake 2 cakes lo. Half of the cake enuf 4u hon?

sms buddy: hmmm sounds gd. Ok half then but make sure every1 gets the cake 2

the baker: but must come t pick up since we dun do same gym...

Honestly, I'm not up to baking 2 cakes, too stressful. Cakes will always turn out nicer and taste better when you give them your undivided attention... adjusting my allocation list sounds like something more convenient to do... hee

Must sleep... actually want to read my book, then sleep. Thank god it's Friday tomorrow! And hopefully I won't miss gym again.

Sneak Preview

I'm not supposed to be bloggin at this hour of the day, why? It's office hour obviously! But I guess my boss should be ok with this since I stayed till 9pm last night to complete the presentation slides... and this long week of hard work really pays off when you get the tumbs up, and well done, and compliments from the audience. Thanks to my production team too, the "sound engineer" (my graphics designer) and couldn't have done it without the "creative director" (who's my big boss the Grp MD) No, we are not a production company, and yes I'm still doing product developement not advertisement...

Anyways... I've had loads of fun reading messages left for me here, not many people know about my blog for now (have not "announced" it because not sure if there's anything that is worth reading in here). But as for pix, I've got quite many of them. I've been planning to do this for weeks - baking chocolate cake. If there's no "incident" then it's gonna be a choc cake weekend for me, and my food tasters out there...

    Mum said cupcake not nice, too sweet and she doesn't like the orange taste. (But the sugar amount is the same like last week which she said ok!) Cousin sis said she like it, and she likes orange and she is my good supporter (hmmm... unrealiable feedback).
