Set my alarm at 8am but only woke up 2 hours later. Poor little baby was waiting patiently. But tomorrow I will have to wake up on time to give baby her bath.
Perhaps due to sufficient sleep and rest, I felt rather energetic and actually clapped when Hobbes said he wanted to do a non-stop class - circuit training according to Hobbes. Felt like I was up to the challenge. Well, I survived! But it was REALLY tough! Just because Hobbes won't be seeing us in two weeks time, or are you taking a break for the whole of June dear?
So, went through a no break BP, we did this chest track which I'd never done before, from the era of BP 30's as I was told. We worked the whole track from bottom, many many bottom halves followed by super slow. By the time I got up from the board after chest track, I felt my head spinning already. When we got to lunges, I felt my heart beating fast and hard against my chest. While doing the biceps, I could almost agree with the song that said "I'm in a bad bad mood, and it's all because of you...". Okay, I don't mean we hate you Hobbes, of course we love you so much, but it was really tough leh....
The parting advice from the instructor was since we worked so hard, don't go ruin all the hard work by eating Nasi Lemak. That was when I mouthed "Baskin Robbins" to Hobbes and immediately got the gleaming look from his face too. Haha... Ice cream is perfectly okay. Nasi Lemak, cannot!
So at 3pm, I headed towards Baskin Robbins, followed Hobbes at his heels without him noticing until we all reached BR. The queue was EXTREMELY long!!! When we checked, the then number being attended to was 107. My number was 128. I thought it was quite reasonable. So decided to wait... since I got company, I was chatting away and before I knew it, it had been 45 minutes of waiting already. Thought of giving up since it was rather late and the line was moving really slow. We found out that there were some inconsiderate customers taking their own sweet time in tasting the flavours before deciding!!! Humphh...
Finally at 4pm, Hobbes and gang decided to leave. Besides, Hobbes needed to rush for another class. So I was left to decide on waiting or leaving.
I waited because if I give up, I'd wasted one hour for nothing. The number being served at that time was 117. Okay lah. While waiting, I had nothing to do so sent a few text. And calculated the time BR used to serve its customer. The answer - 5 customers per staff per hour! So slow and I wasn't sure if that was entirely the customers' fault. So when I got my ice cream, it was 4.45pm -
Time taken - 1 hour 45 minutes
Cost savings - RM26.66
Reward - 2 quart tubs
Reaction from family (including 2 cousins, uncle, aunt, BIL, mum and MC (when she comes back)) - priceless :)
Okay lah, I'm all patient when it comes to pleasing my beloved ones. Cousin sis was already longing for me to get her BR ice cream when I mentioned the 31% BR discount for the day. My uncle was also very happy since he'd gotten into this dessert-mood recently. The other tub waiting in the freezer for MC to come back - Rum & Raisins + Jamoca Almond Fudge ^_^
After that was a major rush to TC! Fizz already called earlier to say she will be there early. But due to me waiting at BR, I only made it on the agreed dinner time. Farid and her had already spent 2 hours at Dome Cafe. Thanks for waiting patiently for me gals!
So handed cake to SSB (during which I managed to say "hi" to LadyNina) - thanks for the feedback and thanks for choosing TTB as your preferred baker - and rushed over to Dome.
Had a great gossip, or rather, story telling session and I am feeling really contented now. It's great to have my gal friends enjoying my stories, what more, agreeing that it's a good idea. And yeah, I'm occasionally quite smart too. Thanks for the compliment :) If only I can remember the brilliant lines Farid had came up with during the session. Farid, I seriously think you should blog too. Hehe...
As I quote Fizz, it's now Season 1 and story to be continued. But I sometimes feel that things are too good to be true and am loosing my judgement and instinct. I need help!

Hokey Pokey Coffee Cake

Here it is...
SSB MSN-ed for a birthday cake request. Yeah she's back in town till Monday. When I asked her what flavour, she said coffeeee... okay. I've got this coffee walnut cake recipe, and since SSB liked the name of the cake too, we've decided on it.
However, SSB asked for a smaller cake. Okay, instead of making the recipe into half (lazy to calculate the measurement), I made the full recipe, and make the remaining into cupcakes. Though, I had to admit, the "little" cake is taller than it should be, take it as a special treat and not the permanent specification of this cake :p.
The cake was baked at a relatively lower temperature, so as I thought, we got a rather moist cake, which I think should be nice - SSB let me know. The cake is reduced sugar as usual, moreover, the icing is butter icing, so will be a bit sweet if the cake is also very sweet.
Baked the cakes in two separate container, it would be advisable to do so especially with cake that's got nuts or fruits, because cutting the cake into half will be messy.
Sandwich the two parts with some butter icing.

Sprinkle with the chopped walnut pralines.

Stack the two parts together and thinly cover the cake with icing first. This will stick the cake crumbs together. If not, when you do the final layer of icing, you will see cake crumbs contaminating the icing, and if like me, the piped icing will fall off the cake.

Did the side with star shape nozzle, quite tedious, next time I will just weave the sides too. But last night I thought of reserving the weave for the top.

My "signature" weave for the surface.
Silver balls to add to the 3D effect.

Whole walnuts, birthday tag and some colour to decorate. Happy birthday uncle!!!

And the remaining for the cupcakes.

The Baker indulging (gone crazy) in shopping
It must have been like two months since I went to a "proper" baking supply shopping, as in major replenishment of supply. Mainly because the bakery supply shops only open weekday (maybe Saturday) and during working hours. So the most suitable time to go (for me lah) is actually lunch time. But it had been really busy at work lately and I had not been able to spare any lunch time for shopping.
So... gone a bit crazy today at the bakery supply shop. Too bad (luckily) I only had about an hour or less, otherwise, I could have been more "detailed" in my shopping. :p
I discovered a few new items which I had to say, is such a good idea!!! I'll take a picture of them later when I get home and will show you... And most of the stuff were seen to be more expensive, however, there were a few items which are now packaged differently (in smaller quantity) and naturally are priced slightly lower (though unit cost might still be the same or higher).
My shopping list at Bake With Yan:-
Perishable items
1) Walnut 500g
2) Pecan 250gm
3) Almond (whole) 500gm
4) Chocolate chips 1kg
5) Raisins 1kg
Packaging/ decorative items
6) Cookie bags
7) Brown paper bags

9) Cake boxes

13) Disposable glove (very hygienic you know...)
14) Paper cups

muffin (100s) x 2 (one is for Carebear!)

The bill came up to RM167 ish. Not bad right? I'm sure my supply will last for at least 3 months or more.
Then I went over to Chang Tung to get some essence and the bill was RM13.00.
Time to get back to office then. And I better continue with work. :p
I'm now a very happy baker. ^_^

Symbols of regular pumping
The skin areas on my knees and elbows are spotted with darker colours and they are rather dry and peeling. I am suspecting that it is due to regular pumping - need to kneel down and use the elbows to support very often in pump classes.
I find Thursday pump getting more boring. Still I went diligently for the sake of my waistline. But, I felt really bored and extremely sleepy and fatigue. Not sure if those were physical or mental. I was feeling okay when I arrived at gym, a bit hungry, but otherwise okay.
I was already sweating a lot even though my warm up on stepper was only 10 minutes. Little Bro was also puzzled with the reason of me drenched in sweat when I saw him at the gym just now. He was in his casual wear which I seldom see him in, and I told him the pants he was wearing accentuate the nice shape of his buttock. :p
I only notice the name of the replacement instructor just before entering the class. I was thinking, if I don't enter the class, what do I want to do? Free weights? It's going to be equally boring. Besides, the free weights area, even extended to the cardio machine, was smelling very heavy of sweat and the air was really stale there. Wouldn't really want to be enveloped in that kind of environment. So, class it was.
Wasn't sure which one was the instructor until he busied himself setting up at the front of the studio. He looked familiar, by the time I recall, I happened to passed by him and I acknowledged him with a smile. He was the guy who TT-ed with FI in his last class just before he left for his Dubai trip. Hmm... so long ago, and which reminded me, I haven't been attending FI's class for a long long time.
Boredom caught up with me as soon as I picked up my bar for the warm up. Followed by great weariness and total dull facial expression. I must have looked like I was in a foul mood and I own the gym type of look. I didn't feel like pushing myself and almost wanted to use only 5kg for the chest track. But decided against it lah. Waistline!
Okay... but half way through the chest track, I had a cramp on my right calf. Geezz... how to "cure" my calf while lying down on the bench? So didn't seem to be able to manage my bottom halves. The cramp got bad during lunges which didn't help at all adding to my declining mood and energy.
In short, I managed badly in class. Lucky the instructor didn't have funny accent or bad spoken English. Cueing wise, not perfect, but no major mess-up. But still, I was feeling really lifeless.
On the happy note. I got a present from my favorite guy today. :) Will miss him while he's away for a few days though.
Meanwhile, there's a birthday cake baking tomorrow for delivery on Saturday. Told SSB that I'll do the hokey pokey for her dad. And I'm really looking forward to catching up on a good gossip session with the gals on Sunday.

Growing The Feelings
Have you ever grew a plant? I remember growing something for experiments at school - red beans scattered on wet cottons placed inside a box with an opening - to prove that sunlight determines the direction of growth for the leaves...
Logically, a seed cannot grow into trees unless it's in good soil, along with water, fertilizer and warmth. Maybe same goes to the seed of love - the feelings can only grow with conditions of the right environment, along with the right amount of tender loving care.
But then again, we often "discover" growing feelings in the soil of our hearts, which seeds we might not have planted ourselves intentionally. It might not even be the right time, or right place, or right person. Perhaps the seeds had settled in softly without us knowing, just like the Dandelion seeds carried by the wind. The feelings might be able to grow without us paying much attention to it during the beginning. Maybe the special feelings will blossom into a full grown relationship. Maybe it won't.
So naturally, feelings, especially those which have not grown into a strong big tree will, I suppose, tend to die after a while if it's not nourished enough. We also often find our feelings diminished after a while of no response or single sided effort.
But perhaps the more worrying issue is when the feelings grew strong like stubborn roots to the soil. Because, how do we uproot a feeling that is not supposed to be growing in our hearts?
Perhaps only time is able to help.

I realize...
It's June soon and I would be blogging for one year already. This is like how I used to write diary diligently, pouring all my secrets out to my non-existence reader, of course now I've got "real" readers. Not only that, I suppose I've got perhaps some silent readers (as suggested) as well, and a few anonymous (with or without nickname) readers.
I'm also a "heavy" blog reader myself. This is a fantastic way to keep up with my friends' life and feelings; and also a great way to be nosy about those whom I may not know in person. I think most of us when we read our friends' blogs, we will try to also check out the links provided. They are all related to my friends, aren't they? Hehe...
Sometimes I wonder if I should acknowledge the person whom I "know" when I pass by them. When I said "know" is because I only "know" them because I read their blogs, but they don't know me, kind of. Or maybe they do too. Would it be weird if I suddenly smile with you?
I wonder if my posts are sometimes too boring. I mean for instance, if I were to be blogging about last night, it would be my routine Monday pump with Carebear. Since I don't know, and can't remember song list, I would just be repeatedly telling you that the class was tough. How can Carebear's class be not tough? And occasionally, I can perhaps tell you that my favorite tracks had been selected! Like last night, though I hate biceps track, I love Pump It! I guess is because of the up beating music and although fast and furious, the track is relatively short. So feels like the torturing is shorter. Haha...
And do readers want to know like why I was rushing off but stayed at the juice bar clutching onto my handphone? (okay, I was talking to MC, before she flew off to Amsterdam last night).
Or, would readers actually skip this part about my ranting? - Last night I was leaving gym in a hurry because it was later than my usual time. Besides, need to get dinner (to munch while driving back). Of all the time and places, it had to be such coincidence that I bumped into Handphone Guy. Okay, didn't "bumped into" but I walked pass some guy and he waved me down, then I realized it was him. Humphh... and...
HG: Hey!
TTB: Oh (disappointed and tired Oh)
HG: Leaving?
TTB: Yes!
HG: You tired?
TTB: YES! (What? Am I even going to say "no, why?"?) Of course I am, try working out like me and you will know.
HG: Okay, I'll call you!
TTB: (PLEASE DON'T!!! - said this silently of course)
Sigh... please don't call. please don't call. please don't call.
I realize that some song lyrics is currently stuck in my head. For example, "Love changes, changes everything..." and "... I just wanna make you mine, oh, mine...".
I also realize that the person who used to make my heart skip a beat, is no longer making me feel so. I even realize that my favorite guy now is a different person.
By the way, I was late to step class today. Mainly because the traffic police was not directing the traffic that efficiently!! So I arrived at the studio like 15 minutes after the class started. I did consider giving up the class when I was still stuck in the jam. But, I thought, perhaps I should just stick to my plan even though it looked impossible. And so I interrupted the class. To my surprise, about 4 guys busied themselves adjusting their step board, with one of them helping me get a board, so that I could join in. How touching. Although only 45 minutes of workout, it was good enough workout. Thanks to the guys!
I realize that workout made easy when there are buddies around, someone that encourages you to be there for classes. :)

A satisfying weekend
This morning before my alarm went off, I thought I heard a tingling sound from my phone. Or perhaps it was my imagination, I thought. I told myself: It's weekend and you don't have to work, calm down and go back to sleep.
Okay, there was a tingling sound from my phone at about 8.30am, it was an sms from LadyNina:
"Mornin' babe. TD asked me to bring u to rpm today @ curve. :D"
My reply at 9.30am was:
"Hi hi... I jus woke up. Tdy?! Cant la. Need to help paint my aunt's new hse. U hav fun rpm-ing!"
Well, that reminded me, I did have to get up and quickly give my baby a bath so I could be over to my aunt's to help out. Sorry TD! Don't think I can make it to RPM quite soon. Next Sunday would most probably have tea to catch up with the gals (hopefully!). And LadyN, I sure look forward to an RPM session with you soon!
I wasn't sure how long I'd helped with the painting. Didn't feel like long. Actually, there were enough hands on the job - My uncle has always been painting their own house and he's very swift and is an expert. Together with auntie, the pair of children plus the boy's girl-friend, I almost felt like I was fighting for the painting brush. So, lets be useful and go get lunch. Besides, BIL was there also as a really big help.
MC and I went out to ta-pao for everyone. After lunch, I went over to make sure my "service" was not required, then came back to shower and prepare for baking.
Wanted to bake something chocolate-base, hence the sticky chocolate brownies. Based on the ingredients, the brownie should not yield a big serving, so chose another item to bake. Picked up the tea-time cake and biscuit recipe book (last year's birthday present from Shen), and decided to bake this butter-base cake with raisins. Raisin is my auntie's favorite, so it can't really go wrong right?
Everything was baked just in time for dinner. It was great having such a big crowd for dinner once a while. Everyone was so hungry after a day's hard work. MC who was already suffering from the muscle ache from Saturday pump is now really tired. Besides, she needs to leave for Amsterdam tomorrow, 12 hours flight. Geezz... I feel tired by just imagining all her travelling. Hope time will fly during the next one week and she will be back in no time.
Had dessert in the living room while everyone unwind and relax. Everyone loves today's bake and I'm a very happy baker. :)

Sticky Chocolate Brownies

Decided to make this my weekend bake because I was reminded by Carebear about my own chocolate cake and have been feeling like baking something chocolate-base but not "the" chocolate cake. The other reason for baking this is because this would most probably make my other taster happy since this taster in question is a "chocoholic". :)
I think the last time I'd baked brownies was last year. That recipe was okay, but I thought I would like a stickier version. So this time I chose a recipe titled "sticky" chocolate brownies with the description of "gooey and delicious".

The brownies turned out to be really gooey indeed. Sticky and very "chewy" as well. This is a recipe for keep. My question was whether the thickness should be increased or not. I supposed if we want to serve this as a full portion of dessert with ice cream and sorts, it would be better if they are just slightly thicker and of course cut into bigger slices. However, if for munching, this cube size would be just nice - my aunt must have had like 5 pieces tonight. :)

Just baked

Stack them up to serve
Brandy Finger

The original recipe called for Whisky and the name was supposed to be "Whisky Finger". But I don't have Whisky, only have Brandy at home, so improvised. According to the recipe, I was supposed to soak the sultanas/ raisins overnight, but I wanted to serve this as tonight's after dinner dessert, hence only managed to soak the raisins for 1 hour plus, so some of the raisins were not that plump yet. I've also reduced about 10ml of brandy just in case it's too strong, but after trying them, I think it's fine to have the full amount in.

My Auntie who's a fan of raisins of course love this cake. Everyone tried this and I thought there was a fair amount of liking towards this butter based cake and the brownies I made. Packed some for aunt to bring back because she said she couldn't fit anymore in her stomach but was really liking them. Kept one slice for mum, 4 slices for tasters and the rest were all gone.

This would be a good recipe to turn into a Rum and Raisins cake. Had just asked MC to pick up a bottle of rum for me at the duty free when she travels to/ back from Amsterdam.

Finally weekend
Finally! It's weekend, and a weekend which I don't have to work. But, I wonder if I would have the chance to bake because we were actually being requested to help with painting my auntie's new house. My aunt and family will be staying down the road (as in same street 10 houses away) as my neighbour soon. How convenient.
But IF I've got the time, I've bought dark chocolate for baking some brownies - in the shape of mini cupcakes perhaps.
So, what to do on weekend? My usual BP at LM with Hobbes, and today with MC in the class and BIL doing his cardio at the machines. Hobbes started his class with "I feel like working out today!" and "Good luck MC!".
Geezzz...
Okay. I suffered a bit today because of my heavy breakfast. The dried curry yee mee definitely did not agree with tough pump class and the warm up with quite many overhead press made me nauseous already. Followed by a "great" squat track (MC and I love that song actually, very strong beat, don't know the name of that track though) and Summer Rain for chest track. It's always hard when you have chest track with bottom-up moves.
Whatever it was, no body believed Hobbes when he said back track was easy and we should perhaps just do an extra 1kg during the last set. Nope. No increase weights. So many triple rows and 7-rows, how to add weight huh? But lunges track was actually not too tough, I would even say rather easy. Too bad I had to go through a shoulder track that I hate most - take your hands off my gal. I was generally very irritated by the song hence felt that the track was double tough. It is a tough track actually! Just when you thought the music comes to an end and the track is over, we had to continue with overhead presses. Arghhhh...
I'd to say, MC as a beginner did very well today, she was absent from gym the whole of last week but could still manage not to reduce the weights she carried. Well done sis! Too bad you will be away again next week. Would need to catch up again when you come back eh?
Can feel my muscle ache already.
We went to watch Indiana Jones tonight. Exciting, brought back loads of memory and it's obvious that they are preparing to film the sequel with Indi Junior. Overall worth watching, but I still like Ironman the best this season.

Impulse buying
Bought a dress yesterday during lunch time. Didn't even try on it because it was lunch time and I was wearing this dress with strap that I need to tie and adjust - so it's a bit "leceh" lah to be changing in and out from that dress. But there's this dress which looked SO cute and it was at best buy and really good price. So, there... me who seldom buy stuff without thoroughly surveying did the impulse buying. The result - MC said the dress looked like it's perhaps one size bigger. Which means I should be wearing size S! Hurray!! Will go exchange later.
I was so sleepy yesterday. Luckily yesterday was one of those days which I can go back early because I've sort of completed tasks at hand and new tasks can wait till the next day. Which means I didn't miss gym last night. Did a pump class and I'm not sure if there will be any muscle ache, and if not, does it mean pump is no longer effective for me? I'm aiming for a flatter abs and I'll be happy with even just a faint trace of 6 packs. Hee...
Anyways, due to fatigue I felt really weak when lifting the weights. I was like almost falling asleep during chest track. Was wondering then if I can just close my eyes and take a nap :p. Having said that, I tried to maintain the weights I used. Lucky for me, the tracks were not that tough and relatively short.
By the time I reached home, I felt like sleeping on the sofa while eating my vege soup - yeah, healthy eating! But still stayed up to watch AI (me no Astro, so one day delayed watching on 8TV) so that I could do a follow up on the discussions on this topic. After watching it, I also felt that the result is some how unexpected.
He said "Best person might not be the winner :)"

Aching
Missed step class again.
Sometimes certain things could just put you in pain, very unexpectedly.
Did combat yesterday, and guess what? Surprisingly, I'm having muscle ache. Now that the muscle pain has settled in, let me tell you where I'm aching - triceps (yes, must be the blaster), upper back (guess I've really punched hard) and abs (don't know how so but, I'm loving it!).
I also heard that if you miss too much, it hurts. I recon, if you love too much, it gives you heartache also.
My mind is not functioning well these few days. Very noticeable during combat yesterday, so blur and just couldn't take in anything. It was like I was "not there". I thought that it couldn't get any worse, but it did - I was SO VERY "not there" at work today...
Woke up early this morning feeling cheerful enough but mental note pad was blank - what IS my to-do-list for the week (day)?
Arrived in the office and got a call from my distributor asking me to attend and support them in a training session outside the office in half an hour's time. They forgot to give me advance notice. Great. Just great - still have not quite found out what my to-do-list consist of.
My new pair of sandals looks really pretty, I love it but it's making too much noise - the flip-flopping noise. Went to change my shoes before going out and waited downstairs for my client to pick me on the agreed time. She was late. Geezz... I was so tired and still without my to-do-list. Who said only Mondays are blue?
Finished the session and felt that I was not required there. Complete waste of time. Could have used that time to AT LEAST do up my to-do-list. Had lunch, which was really delicious. Not that I was hoping for a treat but hey, I came out purposely to support you, don't you feel like paying for my lunch? My lunches are usually sponsored. It's not the money; it's me being a bit cranky this morning.
Arrived back in the office and there were of course tons of work to do. I would normally be okay. Just need to multi-task a little, focus and everything should be smooth. But, not today. I was loosing concentration fast. I couldn't even manage to put up a smiling face - was replaced with constant frowning, hoping that THAT would help me focus.
Geezz... I was so wrong. Actually, until this very instance, I still haven't finished what my boss wanted me to submit. (trying to multi-task while blogging, which of course should be a piece of cake normally, but not tonight. So still nothing to submit).
Later the day, just when I told MB that I should be catching up with her at gym tonight, I was told to set up for a presentation at 5.30pm to a potential client. Humph... I'm all committed to work, but hey, I need a break sometimes.
Despite cheering from Carebear for me to do a good one, it was miserably presented. My big boss actually took over half way. NOW, that's REALLY bad... I was some how expecting some tough telling off after the session, but he was being really kind, just pointed out that it was "bad" (didn't use any harsher words) and agreed that I was "not there" but didn't give me any lecture. Thank god!!!
The night ended with me getting home through a really bad traffic congestion. And you could have just offer me dinner. No???
Didn't do anything constructive since I arrived back home. Should I do work or should I just go to sleep? I recall now that I sent Carebear a message at 10.50pm just now saying " 努力to both of us!" - both of us meant to be doing some work. Guess it's just Carebear doing some work (or have completed some work) now.
I need to clear off some stuff in my mind so that I can be more focus!!!
Not going to check spelling or grammar tonight.

Combating after a long time
No weekend bake this week. Have been working all three days from Saturday till today, the public holiday. And, I missed my usual Monday pump. If I didn't have to work today, I would have joined Carebear's. Nevertheless, in order to fulfill my gym ritual, I woke up really early to be at gym for the 10.30am combat.
I also "forced" MC and BIL to go to gym with me, therefore, MC was still looking like a sleepy head when she entered the class, declaring first timer. Half way through the class, Carebear the combat instructor announced that she finally figured out who was the person standing beside me.
Okay... Wookie who was also standing beside me might have mistaken that you were referring to him. No? MC did think that you were referring to Wookie and not her.
I've not joined combat for so long. The first few tracks seemed like new tracks to me, I don't remember doing any of those tracks before till perhaps track 5. My blur-ness was already quite extreme since I was not familiar with the tracks, plus have not done combat for a long time (at least 3 months or more?), and so whenever teacher pause to "cheer" me, I couldn't continue the moves on my own. Not that you have not prep me enough, my mind was quite full and hence must have visual cue to get me through the class! That's why I don't really like attending classes with instructors who likes to give way too many "tests" by leaving the members to do their own choreo all the time.
I thought the class was a bit quiet and I can't stop feeling "lazy", it's a public holiday after all, and it's quite early in the morning. Though MC was really sleepy, she actually said she enjoyed and liked the class, a big thank you from MC to Carebear. And a big well done to MC for lasting through the whole class!!
I wonder how much hints it takes before a guy could pick up the hints. BIL told me it's like never. Guys are not experts in picking up hints. On the other hand, I thought, some guys are prone to picking up hints wrongly. The other thing I wonder is actually, IF the guy had picked up the hints in question, how would I know if he had.
Something wrong with MSN, couldn't log in.
Tomorrow step class, I hope I won't miss.

Strange
Of late, these few days, I feel that some people around me are acting strange. Either that or I'm being a bit too sensitive. Strange...
MC is back! Got loads of chocolates. Thanks! I'll have to sort them out and make some "decisions". Hobbes being her regular (or the only) instructor would surely be getting his share. Hee...

I am not awake
So sleepy. Slept only 4 hours last night. I wish I can sleep through till noon time tomorrow.
But I still went to gym though I felt my energy low due to lack of sleep. Did BP at TC and it was great class. Good to see little bro again after such a long time. I'm glad I did the class, though now suffering from extreme exhaustion, at least I still did three BP classes this week. And this could be a replacement of the BP I'm going to miss tomorrow.
MC is coming back soon, can't wait to update her on everything.
I better go before I fall asleep on my laptop.

Time out...
No story telling tonight. Time out to do work.
Thanks for the advice on my guessing case.
By the way, my dream is not related to the guessing case.

Guessing?
Went to BP on this day when I'm supposed to be off from workout because I've got dinner arrangement tomorrow. Chose BP because the class I'll be missing tomorrow will be BP and most probably I need to give my Saturday BP at LM a miss due to work. Humph... Might need to mix pleasure (personal time) with work (working during personal time) on Sunday and the Monday public holiday too. The other day someone told me never commit ALL the time to work unless it's your own business. I kind of had to agree with her. And, hopefully I can be working for my own dream instead of working as part of other people's dreams. Why am I working so hard to make other people's dream come true? What do I get?
Back to the gym story... The other reason why I chose BP was because it's one of those classes which I won't be too particular about instructor - if my objective is JUST to workout. Like today's class for instance, since I don't know the instructor and I don't know anyone in the class, I could just switch off and go into day-dreaming-mode. I managed to go into the gym and out without smiling and talking to anyone (except the receptionists). I could look grumpy and don't have to react at all to the instructor.
But yeah, it was no fun, plainly workout - I NEED the workout. Remember waistline.
Furthermore, the class was quiet. Very quiet. Anyways, I've been told that members in this club don't normally response much to the instructors. Unless the instructors work VERY hard.
I arrived home just when the radio was broadcasting this new duet number. I was very intrigue by the lyrics, but I had to get down from the car before mum start to wonder why I was not going into the house. Anyways, the song... it described the "guessing" stage of the start of a potential relationship.
I wonder how long my guessing stage is going to be. Hmm... It can be very entertaining sometimes, but can also be very frustrating. We women (most of us), born with the habit of analysing situations, would enjoy (suffer) most during this stage, where everything could be (needed to be) analysed - Every single reaction, word, gesture, MSN message, call, sms... you name it. Most of the time, the analysing is not really to provide us with answers or references for further action, but to provide us with gossip "topics" and excuses for us to talk about him with our gal (sometimes guys too!) friends. We talked about him just because we feel like talking about him and not because we really want to analyse the situations. Perhaps I'm speaking for myself. But yeah, that's what I normally do.
... and someone is extremely cute with the loli today.

I better update my blog
...before my blog editor queries me why no new entry.
I was really tired last night - Monday pump will always be tough, plus I stayed back to chat with blog ed. So arrived home a little bit later. Having sinus attack didn't help keep me up to update my blog.
I believe the above is good enough justification. Haha...
Last night's pump was a bit queit, wasn't it? Or else, the tracks must be so not tough since there was not much screaming. Personally, I still had a very good workout (BP plus risk going on the cardio wave for 15 minutes before class). The squat track was tough due to the bottom halves, especially the 4 sets for finale. Chest track, tough, because towards the end, I can only do top halves - as observed by the instructor (how DID you see that??) - and was it me whom you were advising not to have elbows below bench?
Back track was okay for me, but I couldn't do the dead rows with wide grip. There were no 6 sets clean and presses, or 4 in a row clean and presses. The killer was the 7 sets of dead rows, wide grip (if managed). Triceps okay but geezzz... Eye of The Tiger has not been my favorite. In fact, biceps track had not been my favorite. So needless to describe my agony struggling through biceps. I was really tired during lunges, so I only hugged a 5kg plate, cannot manage 10kg.
Having healthy McDonald's in shoulder track always made the track seemed more difficult. But I think that was not the tougher shoulder track with the McRaise right? Was there another shoulder track also with McRaise? Finally the abs - I really cannot manage to lift my legs up anymore during crunches.
See, tough right? But why so quiet... Okay lah, there were some noise, but still think that was a pretty quiet class.
AND, today I finally made it to my step class!!! I had not been to this class for 4 weeks now, so just in case I rushed all the way from Damansara to KLCC and favorite step instructor was not there, I had called up the gym to inquire. Moreover, it said in the internet timetable that all classes in mini studio cancelled yesterday due to some sound system problem or something like that - so better check whether any class cancellation today. I called the gym, and when I was asking the receptionist on the phone line the 3rd time whether he was sure that Nor was teaching, he told me she was just in front of him. Whoopss...
Met MB and she told me I had not really put on weight (or didn't put on SO much weight) like I have been complaining about. Okay, I am lucky that the fats were piling up at areas which I can still cover, but not for long, for one of these areas in question is actually my waistline. Right.
Class was great, not too complicated, managed to picked up all the chorea and highly satisfied with the sweating. The sound system was still very bad, as the members (and instructor) said - it sounded like pasar malam. Nonetheless, our objective was met - we sweat a lot.
Oh, and yeah, I forgot to bring the banana pudding with me last night. SO sorry. Thank god I remember to bring them today. LGM came purposely to my office area to pick them up, and was kind enough to say the puddings were passable and not a disaster. Thanks... but the next bake should be "proper" one.
No baking muffins this weekend since I won't be at gym next Monday to give them away. Besides, I need to experiment new biscotti recipes.

Need more cardio or not?
Have not been joining any classes other than BP for the pass three weeks or so. Before the mentioned few weeks, I've been joining my favorite step class but due to work schedule, I've missed that class for a month now. I MUST make it to Maxis this Tuesday!
So I think I might not have sufficient cardio workout, and perhaps that's why my waistline is expanding. I can almost see my face expanding as well!!! Arghhh...
I've tried to at least get myself on the cardio machines before classes on Monday and Thursday, and on Tuesdays since I didn't go to my usual step classes. And the Cardio Wave machine had been my favorite so far, I found that I could sweat a lot, and according to the machine, the calories burnt was quite okay. But, I've got this nagging knee discomfort lately and I suspected that it might be too much of floating on the wave machine.
Spoke to Hobbes on Saturday when I went to his BP and he said it could be since our knees are not suppose to me moving at such direction (side ways) and me with the track record of having knee pains by even doing BJ, would most probably suffer knee pains from the cardio wave machine. Plus, I might be moving my knees in an incorrect way, suggested by PT.
So, maybe it's time to examine my gym timetable? Perhaps I should change my Thursday pump into a cardio class? Considering RPM? haha...
But after checking timetable, and asking for a few advice, PT said "Go wit pump. At least u can work all ur muscle in once."
Pump it is then.

Recipe Failure - Banana and Raisin "pudding"

This weekend I'd baked a jar of double chocolate cookies (remaining cookie mix from last week), a jar of almond chocolate chips biscotti and some banana and raisin "muffins".
I've got a habit of improvising (i.e. changing) recipes most of the time (most of the time, not all the time :p). So today, in one of those mood, I've experimented with some variation. It didn't turn out well actually - something I'd call a "recipe failure". Logically, the miscellaneous ingredients shouldn't be bigger portion then the base cake mixture. But, this is one recipe where there were too much banana. So the muffins didn't turn out as "cakes" (fluffy) but turn out more like "pudding" (too dense and moist, no "cake").
See...

Text-ed LGM, my faithful banana-related-recipe taster, and told her no cake-tasting since it's a failure. But my dear friend is kind enough to want to give it a go. BUT please remember you've promised to throw them away if they taste yucky.
Carebear - I've got some biscotti for you. I hope you don't mind having them - Your morning coffee break snack. And welcome back. Will we be tortured in tomorrow's pump? LOLz...Friday, May 9, 2008
Insensitive
Mentioned to him about a friend waiting for an "answer" for about almost a year. I said, gosh, that's long. He disagreed that one year is a long time, and also reminded me that I seemed to have also waited for that someone for an answer for a long time. Whoopss... he's right, I think I waited longer, or about that time.
My case was different, I never told him I liked him.
If you had told someone how you feel about him, normally he would either admit that he has the mutual feelings; or he doesn't feel that way; or he doesn't know how he feels because he'd not thought about you this way. In the last situation, he would either suggest that you guys try going out and see how it feels, then take it from there... Or, sorry, don't think it will happen and it's better if we can be "friends".
Some people say you will be able to pick up the hint when someone likes you. Really? I say not.
People say when you like someone, you will go the extra mile, you will do the extra stuff, you will ask the person out - not just on normal outings, but maybe on some slightly more special occasion. Okay, but the person can always cover-up by trying to appear treating other people the similar way. So one will not necessary know the true feelings.
Even sometimes when hints ARE obvious because they are meant to be, the other person might not get it because he might be insensitive.
Further to the note on insensitive, he might be choosing to be insensitive. The reason - he doesn't want to develop the relationship further and it's better to appear not knowing that special feelings, in order to avoid "the conversation" to make things clear. It can be embarrassing. It might effect the current relationship. It might make situation too complicated to handle.
So normally people choose to wait - wait and see. Actually, I might also choose to wait - because I really don't want to know now.
Let me first train up my heart to be stronger. Then I might choose to find out.
Till then...

If only I can say it ALL
I really had to admit that Carebear's pump classes are (usually - with very very high chance) tougher. Oh, and also Hobbes', his pump classes are also normally aim to kill! I went to one today, and it's only ok-ish. Maybe no connection to the people and everything around me, or is it the instructor? I found myself practically day dreaming during a big chunk of the time in that class. And I suppose also, how tough the pump class is up to how tough we ourselves want to make it.
I got a bit of discomfort at my knee lately, is it because of the extra donut I've added to my squat? Or too much of floating on the cardio wave machine? OR, I'm getting old. OH NO!!!
I always caught myself continuing mentally what I wanted to say. Most of the time, I wish I can really say it loud, and tell them all.
Him: "what is the best way to get to digital mall?"
TTB: "section xx" (can I come too?)
Him: "Thought so"
TTB: "digital mall doesn't sound like a good place for dating" (WHO are you going with??)
Him: "Noooo... I'm not going for a date, I'm going there alone"
TTB: "Oh..." (That sounds great :)) "Haha..."
Him: "Maybe I can still be dating at the digital mall, IF I'm dating a geek"
TTB: "If you are buying present, I wouldn't mind dating you there!" (now... seriously, can I come too?) "Hahaaa"

Not ambitious, 300kcal only
Missed gym last night, and since I had been "reminded" to keep a balance of my life, and not to forget my darling "Jim", I headed towards TC after work - on my supposed "off-day" from gym. But, since I was really sleepy, and needed to allocate some time to shop for THE bananas, I opted for 30 minute cardio wave AND I only aimed for 300kcal. The result, 330 kcal, 14km, maximum heart rate 175.
With this, I'm sure I've burnt off my afternoon teh tarik.
I've got a few new colleagues lately. Today, this one colleague of mine asked if I'm still single. After me answering, she said "yeah, it's not easy because you are so tall"
Hmm...
I am SUPPOSE to get a boyfriend who is taller than me is it?
I used to set height as one of the main criteria, until lately some of my dear friends and my own sis, talked me out of that. The reason for the height thingy was because, to me, a guy who is taller than me would be able to give me the sense of security, the feel of comfort. But if someone who is shorter than me can manage to make me feel that way, I then don't see a problem. (This was what we agreed on during our last "discussion" right, gals?)
So, I suppose now, it's whether a guy who is shorter than me will feel at ease with me or not. "Guys wouldn't want girlfriends to be taller than them normally" - is my colleague's reply.
I would like to believe that if this guy is confident enough, if he is comfortable with his own height, and most of all, if he likes me enough - I don't think height could discourage him.
I'd like to believe so.

Really Can't Tell
Sacrificed gym and sleeping time tonight to complete work. Exactly what I meant when I said the other day, that I couldn't really draw a line between work and personal life most of the time. Really can't tell whether I am at work or off at 1am in the morning, say.

Charity OR sales transaction??
First of all, sorry LGM because you had to wait for me again, I expect you to be joining pump since you asked if I was joining pump. And, thanks for the "present" - I love presents :).
There was a slight delay going into the gym because firstly there was a office "crisis"; Then it was my detour to the pet shop to get stuff for my little baby; AND a complete waste of time with this charity booth at the connecting bridge between TC and IKANO...
I must have passed by this booth for a hundred times, so today when I was passing by for my hundredth-and-one time, I decided to hear them out and perhaps spare some money to the needy. I was also in the mood.
The person: Blah blah blah... planning to build a new building to house the orphans, and there will be learning centre blah blah... in blah blah...
(Can't even remember what she said... so,)
TTB: Can you perhaps give me something to read, or a source for me to check this out first? My company also has a charity fund, perhaps I can look into recommending for an amount to be donated?
TP: Oh, you mean you want to perhaps send a cheque at a bigger sum for a "one off" donation?
(So strange, why use "one-off" to describe donation? But,)
TTB: Yeah, or perhaps we can visit the shelters you are currently supporting...
(I thought maybe I can plan for my next family visit to the orphanage...)
TP: But we are only "promoting" this plan here, it's a monthly contribution which you can stop anytime you want...
I really lost her there... retrace, I thought we were talking about donations to the orphans or something? Apparently it's a scheme or some sort where you authorise them for schedule deduction from your credit card.
TTB: Okay, perhaps let me check this out before I make any donations, I'm sorry to be rude but there are many activities going on now a days in the name of donations.
(What? I am being too "cynical" or what? Anyways,)
TP: You might not get as much information as I can provide you over here, maybe let me go through with you the information I have... This plan is by XXX (a renowned insurance company) and we (they) are collecting funds for blahblahblah...
(Seriously, I got really impatient with her, couldn't really hear what she said, besides, hey, I don't have ALL night you know?!)
TTB: okay, why don't you just give me the reading materials? And like I said, perhaps we send cheque.
Nope! She didn't have any to give me...
Okay... she might not have used the word "promoting" but to me it has been perceived as a sales promotion or some sort. Are we not talking about donations here? Shouldn't one be flexible when you are doing something out of passion? Shouldn't one accept whatever the donor had to, or can afford to offer?
To end my conversation with her, I said "Madam. You see, why I was hoping to get more information from you was because perhaps we can visit the shelters ourselves. Most of the time, we feel different when we really reach out to the children instead of just dropping a few notes into the funds."
She begun to say something like "but you are also reaching out by..."
Whatever, I really lost interest all together and got upset with this woman.
Sigh... I THOUGHT I was being kind to stop by, but I would have better off just said "no thank you" and walked off as usual. Perhaps people like me with limited cash to spare for donation is not "qualified" to participate in these kind of charity funds/ scheme. Perhaps people like me who is hoping for some options towards the amount and ways of donating is not "welcomed" to inquire at such booth. Perhaps people like me is having the wrong idea of what "reaching out" and charity means.

Classic Mini Cupcakes

9 dozens of these were baked for my orphanage visit today.
We were told that there are about 80 plus kids (age 2 to about 26) living in the 2 storey terrace house. Though the huge number, we can see that the kids were taken care of. The place, together with a few more other centres (old folks, community centre, shelter for disable children) were manage by a pastor. We were also being informed that about 25 kids are staying with the pastor at his house. You really need a big heart to be so devoted. And although I'm pretty sure they get quite a lot of support from the public, but you will never have enough when you have more than a hundred kids to support. We didn't contribute that much since we don't really have that much budget, but though our contributions were small, the caretakers had all shown so much gratitude and appreciation.

What blog title?
I don't know what I plan to write tonight, hence do not know what blog title to put.
Felt really tired last few days and even mum commented that it seemed like I've been going to sleep earlier. I was physically tired actually.
Lately, I felt that I've not been able to draw a clear line between work and personal "life" anymore. It seemed like I've been forever working - after working hour, night time, weekend, public holiday. I don't mean actually going to the office, but doing office stuff. I bet many of us live this kind of life. Is it because of deadlines, or because we are all workaholic? Someone told me recently that it's okay to be a workaholic as long as we enjoy it. Hmm... I have different feelings when I'm in different mood.
This blog is going to be so random...
I used to get sms that cheer me up instantly; used to send sms for no real reason but just for random updates on some unimportant stuff; used to made my heart leap and skip a beat when getting those sms-es. But lately, there seem to be lacking sms of such, till today I realize that this particular sms gave me a strange tinge of excitement. I do miss those chummy sms-es.
I also have this uneasy feel that I'm behind time with some tasks, but I'm feeling a bit like what MC said, drowning but can't swim. I hope my situation doesn't become a messy game of Tetris.
Just made a hundred of mini cupcakes for our orphanage visit tomorrow. I hope the cupcakes bring some joy to the kids. How lucky we are to be sheltered where we really belong to, surrounded by love and care.
Earlier today, MC and I joined Hobbes' pump, it was great, and as MC agreed, this was much much better than the one we attended on Thursday. MC was spotted with some slight weight increment, well done! We felt like we were dead after the class, but hey, we love the torture and felt great with a big sense of achievement!
I think I need sleep. And a dosage from my romance story book.
