The combat master started the class by making a "lost-and-found announcement", he lost his favorite green Nike shoes (which Diha and I thought we heard "slag"). Whoever found them, please don't wear them to his class. I mean, please return them to him.
The class was packed with Master C's usual "tests" which he termed as "tricking" (e.g. he will say go right when it's shuffle left), he said he will always try to trick us so as to train up our reaction and alertness, something like that. I think, for him not giving instructions for the choreo during certain part is a good idea for instructors-in-training, as that's the best time for them to test their memories. As for normal members (example: me), it's good to be standing behind experts like my combat buddies so I can follow them, (do I look like I'm intelligent enough to be able to memorize the choreo? Not to mention mind full of distraction from work matters) otherwise, I will not survive through this type of class without making a fool out of myself. Though the combat master appeared to be less cool (as in kung fu style macho cool) this way, but I'd to say that it's very funny and entertaining. Oh, and this is what I think you should know if you want to join his class:
If Master C asked:
Question: What are you waiting for? (in the middle of a track):
Wrong answer: instructions from the teacher for the next move? (with raised eye brows and all...)
Right answer: get on with the choreo yourselves.
Question: Where is the back kick?? (when he didn't tell us and when we didn't automatically add on in the middle of the track)
Wrong answer: (retort:) because you didn't tell us.
Right answer: sorry teacher, we forgot. *giggles
Question: Is that my fault?! (when we did wrongly because we were unclear of the instruction/ got confused/ missed the cue)
Wrong answer: YES! IT'S YOUR FAULT! (while thinking YOU are the teacher not us).
Right answer: Whoopsss... course not!!!
An OK class despite the total mess (when members all gone wrong directions, no synchronized moves etc). So, when the combat master does nothing or pause in the middle of the track, don't think he'd forgotten his choreo, he's just testing! (well, we'll never know actually, haha *evil launghs)
Body Pump on the other hand was no nonsense but still fun-packed. No mistake, no missed cue and full of useful tips and techniques from the instructor. Highly recommended for beginners (even the most hopeless beginners hehe). Love the class! and it's DEFINITELY worth my 55 minutes. Totally agreed. Not to mention getting pressie after all the hard work. Thank you!!! It was nice (and nice of you).
After getting the tips on how to balance my bar/weights for squat, I did find so far that it's more comfortable doing the squat track, no more neck pain. And, I've took the suggestion of increasing my weights during lunges, and this actually gives more impact to the workout. I agree that it's a bit too light to only carry 5kgs (not for last night though, lunges with bench + increase weight = instant death. So better not). Since I don't really like using the bar, I normally hug a 5kg plate for lunges. In order for me to still look "pretty" haha, I hug two 5kg plates, instead of the jumbo 10kg plate, which I'm sure will make me look extremely clumsy.
I love the song for squat track, one that I can surprisingly sing a few lines. Bicep? Can't sing that song lah, except for that same 3 words Carebear sung. Chest track? "I donno what I'm doing!!!" (scream, not sing).
